Well I just finished putting in a Ford Racing clutch and then after the test drive and everything went smooth and nice I went to throw away the box. Low and behold there was instructions in the box. Evidently you are supposed to wash some rust protective coating on the clutch and pressure plate with brake cleaner before installation or the clutch may wear prematurely. Great. Why couldn't they put a sticker on the clutch or something to warn a person. Thats screwed up! Any body got any ideas on what I should do now. Just drive it and break it in longer than 500 miles? Thought about trying to spray brake fluid in through the clutch lever hole but don't want to mess up the grease on the TOB or the Pilot bearing. ARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!! :bang:

I think its up to the person buying the product to look through the box, make sure everything is there, read the instructions and what not. Just pointing out that its not always Someone else's fault.

they did not quit coating them. you are ok its a simple extremely light coating it comes on every brake rotor out there, and every clutch ,it is used so that while it sits in storage the untreated metal doesnt surface rust.are you driving it yet?
because as soon as you leave your driveway and hit the road a mile
it will already have been wiped clean by the disc.

almost every clutch i replace gets a factory throw out bearing and pilot.
the ones they give you should be thrown away.
obviously this only applies to street clutches not racing clutches.

I just put a king cobra and ram sfi flywheel on my friends 306 last night (the engines in the garage not in car yet) I sprayed carb cleaner on the flywheel and wiped it off and just before I put the pressure plate on I wiped the surface clean but I didn't use any carb cleaner.

The t/o bearings are fine, its all about how you set the cable. If its set incorrectly it'll chirp. Most people blame it on a "bad bearing" when in reality its usually the installers fault from not adjusting it correctly. Just be sure you set the cable correctly after the job.
