I finally made it to the dragstrip to see what the nightmare would do. MY best was a [email protected] mph was 101.3-101.7 on ever pass that I didn't screw up on. lol. I'd love to get into the high 12s with it so I'd like to get a little more out of it, but its got to be on the cheap. This whole Delphi bankrupt deal is making work real shaky.

Heres what she's got now
70mm tb, explorer intake with ported lower, home ported e7s (187 cfm @ .500 lift), fresh short block with speed pro 2488f pistons on eagle sir rods, e303 cam with 1.7s and good springs, fms shorties, old mac h pipe and cat back. The car is a 90 gt with a 5speed, 3.73 gears, and 26" Hoosiers. Other than that its stock. I ran a sn95 maf with my stock electronics and gained 1 mph, but its not as "nice" for every day driving.

The race weight with driver is 3400lbs so that should put me around 275hp. I figure it will take another 25-30 hp to get a 12.9. Would a properly cal'd MAF and a switch to longtubes and an Dr. Gas X pipe get me there? Also I know the e303 gets a bad rap in a lot on a lot of the boards, and its not the greatest for everday driving. What would be a good cam to snag if I ran across a good deal. I had a Crane 2030 in the past and liked it a lot, but with my 1.7s the lift gets up to 0.578 plus by the cam card its rpm range is a little lower than the e303. How does the tfs stage1 work with 1.7 rockers?

60s were 1.8s. as for suspension she is stock other than a welded in set of cheap frame ties. I have thought about a set of control arms. I don't want to get something to radical that will kill the ride and tear up the torque boxes. Are the ones from Blue Oval Indust. any good? I like the price. lol

I feel that for a home ported e7 combo he did pretty well.
Probably pretty good driving and the car hooks well.

rwhp number is probably more like 250 than 275 with a 101 mph.

Probably not that quick on the street though, since the mph is fairly low, and so is the 60ft.

i got a compucar dry kit in a bag for under 200$ shipped on ebay and let me tell yout the 100 shot will put a big fat smile on your face every time! you should easily gain .3 with that:D
PS: i have run this kit TONS of times on my car and have had no issues with it yet,

I have done the NOS thing in the past. Thanks, but no thanks.

The Blue Oval control arm set is $155 for all four.
How much will the control arms really do for it? I didn't think 1.8s were to bad for a 60 ft. Of course I'm probably on borowed time with the T5.

I'm suprised no one thinks the MAF is an issue. Good thing I didn't spend any $$$ on one yet.

As for the power level I was just using one of those "enter your car's weight and mph" type calculators. I'm not sure if thats rwhp or fwhp to be honest.

Its ok on the street, but it does run better down low with the stock MAF on the street than the sn95 housing so thats what I normaly run. the e cam realy did kill the bottom end, but it sure helps up top. lol

My vote is for an 80mm pro m.
A 75 works good, but you'll likely need an 80 if your combo gets a bit stronger. Going too big on the maf, doesn't hurt anything.

With your slicks a set of Eibach drag launch springs and some lakewood shocks will make it a lot more fun. And will probably drop your 60ft by a 10th or so. Try the lakewood 50/50s out back and the 70/30s up front for more normaly drive. I have the 90/10s on the front of mine not so good for the curves but more fun on the straights. Also If adjustable control arms are out of your budget try some new bushings for the lowers. You can get solid bushings for as little as 40$ or some good poly's for a little more. That will tighten up your rear that much more.:D All these are things that you can do in your garage with your own tools. Good clean inexpensive fun. Try this and watch that front end get light on the launches.

If you are pulling 1.8's now, don't mess with a all out drag setup, you are already doing pretty well. And i know from experience a drag suspension Sucks on the street. Takes all the fun out of everything except going straight.

Maybe some lower control arms, and adjustable uppers, but don't do the springs and shocks.

Thanks for the complements , guys.

I had the exact setup kikz19 is taking about on a 89 lx years ago and it would lift the fronts about 4 inches and pull 1.5 60 fts. A lot of fun at the track for sure.

I'm not sure I want to go that far since the car is a daily driver, and as I get older things I'd consider ok in my 20s bug me now that I'm nearing 40. lol

my timing is @ 14 degrees right now. I didn't get a chance to adjust it since the track was packed.

Some control arms are probaly in the works next spring. At 150k the stockers have pretty much bee used up.

I'll look into the 80mm maf. Is the new "pro-m" selling these now? What ever meter I get I'd like to make sure I get a cal sheet so if I have a chip done they can use the info.

I have a Dr. Gas X pipe that is for a 3" collector long tube that necks down to 2-1/2 out let. So long tubes are in the plan. Not to mention flowtechs are cheap and that is what the X pipe was made for.
