alright, heres my question, looking at the mods i have, would it help me or hurt me to get a 70mm tb. second question, if i get a 70mm TB do i have to get a new egr plate too?

IMO, stock tb is more than enough for your application. pointless with the stock heads, spend money on something that will actually do something.:nice:

Yeah, I believe e7's came on them. Anyway I agree it's probably a little big for your application at the moment, unless you plan to upgrade heads/cam/intake in the future, if not I'd hold on the 70mm. Yes, though you would need a 70mm EGR plate also if you were to upgrade.

even if there are plans for a h/c/i, i would not buy a t/b until you have them up and running. im just saying this because i have wasted money on tb's when i did not need them. throttle response sucks with a bigger tb on stock heads. just my .02

This is true, though I only meant if such a combo that needed a 70mm, was going to be used. Never hurts to plan/buy ahead for a matching combo.

i will be doing h/c/i but not for a while either e7 powerheads or explorer heads, cobra or explorer intake and an E303 cam. ( again, just out of curiosity, are either of these combos good for any power?) and would they facilitate the need for a 70mm tb?

70mm, no, unless you add boost. no boost, 65. that combo with a good 60' is good for 13.0.

i will have dyno numbers soon.

so 65mm tb with either of those combo's, what size maf and injectors? now that we're on the subject? and which out of those combos should i go with?

stock injectors, you really could use the stock maf also, you WILL need a tune ( bout $500). i need to go get one soon. i would go gt40's or p.

Use the 70mm tb for that cobra/explorer intake.

ok, so heres what im thinkin from what youve said, explorer heads, explorer intake, e303 cam, stock injectors, stock maf, 65mmtb, a good tune and probably 1.6rrs? not 1.7s? is there anything else im missing for this build up?

Sorry to be so blunt, but this set up you're planning is gonna be a turd.

Heres how to fix it and make it quick. Forget ALL about that E303 cam. Go with something custom, AFM or a comp XE grind. Match the valve spring to the camshaft (you didn't think you were gonna reuse those old stock valve springs, right??) go 70mm tb, use longtubes if possible, 190/255 fuel pump. You may need injectors with this combo. I would also suggest a clean up mill on the heads (which you probably won't do but its the RIGHT thing to do to install a used head) Do new valve seals also.

My way will spank the sh it out of your way, but your way will save a few bucks. :Track:

Fwiw i'm just trying to help, not being rude.

im not taking it as rude, i can use all the contructive criticism i can get, when i do this combo i want to do it right, so if you wouldnt mind, just list off everything i need and or need to do with this combo, i.e. parts i need to get and things i need to have done, this is my first build so its a learning process for me

Alright, cool! Here goes my suggestions..

So you're set on using GT40 heads right? Find a set and have them milled at least .020". They have a 64cc chamber I believe so if you can get that to around 58cc that should raise the compression .5. Use a custom grind cam and be VERY specific of your goals and where you want your power. I'd suggest an edelbrock RPM intake and have the inlet opened to 75mm and run a 75mm tb. Again, work with the cam grinder and let them pick the valve springs and rockers you need. I'd suggest longtubes and an offroad mid pipe. I'd also suggest 4.10 gears. If you have extra cash get a good valve job on the heads as well. This combo should be pretty damn quick with a GT40 head.

alright, i want to stay somewhere around 3.55 for the gears, and where can i get my cam ground? would it be all that horrible to use one of the frpp cams? and i think i can get a good deal on the valve job and head porting because a good friend of mine works and a machine shop here in town. but if i did go with say an e303 or
b303 cam, what valve springs and rockers should i go with?
