I'm looking at adding some Weld Forgestar rims to my '06 GT. Thinking about a 20" rim for the rear and 18" for the front. Can anyone give me some help on width and tire sizes to go along with this combination? Does anyone have this size combo on their car or a similar size to give me some perspective? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :nice:

Also if anyone is a Weld dealer send me a PM. I am talking to one company now but they are being really weird and I don't have a warm and fuzzy. They are offering 18X8.5 with 255/35's and 20X9.5 with 275/35's both sets of tires seem awfully small to me. Also what is the correct back spacing for the S197?

You should stick with same diameter size wheels for this but go with different width. Hope this helps! :nice:

Yeah that's what I'm starting to think myself after reading this forum for the last 2 hours. Thinking about a 19X10 w/ a 305/30 for the rear and a 19X8.5 w/ a 275/30 for the front. With a 1.5-2 inch drop that should be perfect.

going to be hard to find a 305/30 that tire is going to be bigg bucks..

the 295/35 is the only decent priced large tire you will find bfg KDW makes one thats not to bad on price about 280 a tire

I'm not as concerned with price on the tire as I am with fit. Although in looking last night I couldn't find a 305/30 or a 305/35 in any brand. What is the largest 19 that you guys are running right now? Does anyone have a 19X10 on their car?

I think 20" are definatly too big, go with 19" at most. I am going to be going with 18"x10 in back and 18"x9 in front. I have heard that the 18"x10 can accept up to a 305 but I was thinking something in the 280s.

The available options through Weld on the Forgestar are
19X9
19X9.5
20X9.5
20X10.5

I am waiting to find out if a 18X8 is available. What do you think about a 18X8 up front and a 19X9.5 in the rear? Of course I'd have to go with a 280 series tire with a 9.5" rim.

I wouldn't put anything wider than a 295 on a 10" wide rim. I would rather have a 285, but I wanted to stay close to the original diameter. Pay attention to tire diameters as most of the tires you will find are closer to the old ('04-older) Mustangs diameter. I have the rear tires that 1fastz mentioned, along with 275/35-19s in the front. The rims are 19x9 and 19x10.

I think I've settled with a 19X9.5 / 18X8 combo to make the stepped look a little more pronounced. Thinking about a 285/35/19 in the rear and a 255/40/18 in the front. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer on the avilability and the overall height of both rim and tire combos, like you I'm looking for something that will come close to the current rim/tire height.
