welding torque boxes

i want to make my torque boxes stronger. im not sure how many, if any, runs i can make down the track with 403 at the wheels on slicks with unmodified torque boxes. can i just get under there with the mig welder and weld all the seams up or do i have to go out and buy some thing like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/79-1...33583QQitemZ8010297020QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

i can understand buying the reinforced lowers but can i get away with welding the uppers? is it true that if they are reinforced your 60' will drop?

i back welded my 79 coupe and didnt install the wild rides style torque boxes. Our little shop intstalled a set of wild rides torque box reinforcements and I personally like them but just didnt feel they were needed with my application. Back welding all my upper and lower control points did exactly what I wanted it too......keep them from ripping the spot welds from the floor area and or splitting. I spot welded mine then came back and ran a bead between each tack weld on outter edge of brackets!
good luck
