install help on axleback slp kit

I'd say an hour too but most of that is just getting them lined up correctly. The stock axle back is held on by four bolts and one clamp per muffler. I am not sure how the SLP installs but most likely it will use the same hanging hardware. The four bolts that hang the mufflers are located above the muffler and basically just attach the hanging hardware to the body of the car. The clamp is what clamps the over axle pipes to the axle back. The best thing to do is jack up the rear end and put the rear end on jack stands. A lift would be ideal but jack stands should be all the clearence you will need. Here is a picture of my stock mufflers removed which I was able to do without even jacking the car up:

Hope that helps.

your kiding right ?

took me 10 minits from teh time i lifted the car on the lift till the time i droped it back to the ground

there is four nuts to losen then you simpley slide the mufflers and pipes off and then reasemble in the reverse

took me about an hour to install my Borlas and that was in my garage, with a jack, lifting each side separately, and taking a smoke break in between. took maybe 10 minutes to unbolt each side and slide on the mufflers, and they lined up perfectly the first time.

The actual unbolting and bolting them back up does take no time. I estimated an hour b/c it took some time and adjusting to get them lined up correctly again. Of course it could be different with SLPs. I had Bassani's

the STOCK mufflers can be slip off the hangers. you just need to loosen the clamp bolt. FLOWMASTER a.b. kit has oposing hangers and you have to remove the hangers and put them on the mufflers before you install them. i dont know about SLPs, but if the hanger tabs are facing the same direction, then they would just slide on, but if they go different ways, then you have to pull the hangers as well. with the SLPs, it should be easy to tighten the hangers, because the pipe design is slim, compared to a muffler.....

I tried my darndest to slip them out of the rubber grommets and just couldn't do it. Had to undo the four bolts and take the hangers off. There just didn't seem to be enough clearance to slip them out.

Does anyone have an extra pair of Stock GT Muffler hangers left over and lying around?

I sure could use them!
thats a tough one, you reuse the ones you have when you put on new exhaust, so finding an extra set will be difficult....
