overfilled my ATF fluid by quite a bit, how should i remove some of it? I don't really want to take it back to them seeing as how they overfilled my oil too... presumably with 6 qts.

I read that i should get some piping and a squirt bottle and siphon some off?

removing the drain plug will allow all the excess fluid to exit on its own. you normally fill the transmission until it starts coming out the filler plug.

so it will be the right amount doing it that way, siphoning is just going to remove an unknown amount since you dont know what it was overfilled by. then it still could be too high/low.

*****ing hell... my stupdi garage isn't even level, i went out there today to check and it is like on a bloody incline, but i am sure it is overfilled, because when i checked it with my nose end going towards the other side it was high too...

god damn it, now i have to find some level ground... so pissed off right now and i'll have to find some level ground for my oil change too i guess :(

Make sure the car is on level ground and check the fluid HOT! A cheap gasoline siphon works well. Just collect it in a jar so you can see how much you are taking out and check the level often as you remove the fluid. Why did they add fluid th your auto transmission?

You will have to pump it out. The stock trans pan on the auto does not have a drain plug. Overfilling the trans can damage it so drive it as little as possible until you correct the situation. You can get the hand crank pump for this at AutoZone for around $10.

THink thats bad, I knew a guy who got an oil change and they didnt tighten the plug, so as he was driving to work it fell out and drained till it was empty, they came out and put in a new plug and filled it up so he could bring it in and then they flushed it and filled it and told him everything ws fine. 2 months later engine went... damn you jiffy lube.

So it could be worse.

That's what I would do. That tech should not get away with it. He/She will never learn if you let this one slide. They are not going to feel sad and chase you and apologize just because you decided not to go back there for your next 6 month appointment.

I'm not going back there anyway, just because they overcharge for bad ass service not because of this incident.

They added fluid because it was in the maintaince schedule.
