ford racing supercharger ??

The Ford Racing supercharger is a repackaged Powerdyne. Powerdynes do not have the best reputation & get bashed a lot. That price is high, go to Ebay & search for Powerdyne, can get for a little over 1500 or so. The Powerdyne is one of the smallest if not the smallest supercharger made. They usually don't make the boost they say it will. It does not make the most power, but being it is belt drivin internally, it keeps the heat down also. The instalation is on the easy side, no need to tap the oil pan.
I have one of the 9lb kits (only saw 5-6 lbs on the dyno) on my Cobra, got it used & have had no problems in a year. I made 350 rwhp & I have over 127k miles on the car & 2k miles after the install. If you car has been maintained good, you should have no problems with it. As always be careful buying on the classified. Powerdynes are a good street supercharger, sticky tires, 5k launches & powershifting is not the best for them & can cause internal belt failure. Know the limitations of the supercharger, don't over spin the impeller & don't put a small pulley on it & it should last a while.
If funds permit, the best would be H, I & C along with the supercharger....

agreed... do a seach on powerdyne's you will find useful info.. they have limiting boost levels without destroying the heat unit rpm wise. Id go with a vortech or Kb. As long as ur engine is in good tune you will be fine.boost is fun you will like it. good luck

I´m not an expert, you see, but I´d like to add some comments. A valid point is that you pay for brand new parts, and guaranteed by Ford. If it generates 20-30% more power (is it correct?), it´s not that bad for the value, considering a Vortech is over 3k (however it may have more margin for growth, and probably is THE s/c). A friend of mine bought an used Vortech and never got rid of leaking oil, no matter new gaskets and whatever...ended making a hole in a piston. Maybe because it was a Chebby, hahaha

you cant blame the vortech for the engine failure your friend had. if he ran too much boost or didnt have enough fuel (or both) that is not the fault of the supercharger. as far as the powerdyne goes, i had one on my 94 gt a while back and i will be the first to tell you that you get exactly what you pay for. with the belt as tight as a banjo string, i only saw 6psi with the 9lb pulley on it. aside from that, the brackets were a mother f-er to get aligned right, the brackets needed additional shims that werent provided, the tensioner bracket attaches to the coil bracket on the drivers side accesory bracket which was definitely not made to handle that stress (mine cracked right between the bolt holes). the alternator also needs to be moved to the bottom under the headunit and they SAY that reclocking the alternator eliminates the need to lengthen the harness. no matter which way i tried to run that harness after reclocking, it would not reach. in the end, i wasted a head gasket because of stretched stock head bolts.(not the blowers fault), and i got rid of the thing. the only thing convenient about the powerdyne is that you dont need to tap the oil supply. that is the end of the convenience. another downside is that there is no room for growth after 9lb. the blower simply cannot handle anything above that reliably. you will also not see as much hp per lb of boost because of the cfm (it is a small entry level unit). if you have no interest in more power later and you want some cheap horsepower (less than they advertise) than the powerdyne may work for you if you can deal with the other headaches along the way. telling you from experience though, i would just search for a used vortech now and save the need to do it later. sorry about the rant. i hope it makes sense since i didnt reread it before posting. ;)

mine reached just fine, i just had to figure out the shortest route to go. As for the install it was very easy and i only had some so so instructions that i printed online. For $1250 i went from 235hp to 379hp so i'd say that pretty good bang for the buck. People can bash on them all they want but it's hard to beat for the price plus if it does break it is easy to rebuild.

are those hp figures at the wheels? if so, that is amazing with the mods in your sig and that supercharger. how much boost?

I wonder if it is because of the larger intakes and injectors or the heads being different. But for the vert I've got no idea. Anybody know?
i had a gt40 intake and 42lb injectors on my gt with the powerdyne so that cant be it. as far as the heads being different, im pretty sure the accesory brackets and mounting positions are the same with the gt40p's as they are with the e7's. the only mounting difference i am aware of is with the headers.

The only thing I had to do to make it work on the Cobra was to remove the oil cooler. No issues with it being a vert? Everything bolted up with no problems. Being a Cobra with better heads & intake you will not see as much boost, being that boost is a measure of back pressure & the Cobra has better flowing heads & intake, so less backpressure. That does not mean it will not make as much power, it will.
I add 95 hp to my Cobra by adding the supercharger, to 350 rwhp.

It should work for a cobra and a vert. I have the cobra intake manifold, and a vert, though I do have the cobra R hood for clearance. If you go to powerdynes website, they offer the same kit for cobras, I dont know why the ford one isnt, considering its the same blower, just repackaged.
