Hey guys, every time Im on the brakes, like turning into my driveway, a pop comes from my front end about halfway while turning the steering wheel. This only happens when Im on the brakes and its very consistant. Any ideas?

its been going on for a long time, I dont really have much front end mods except no sway bar.

Or a tie rod. It would really take some lookin by you or some real articulate info (like if it requires a hitting a bump also to make it happen, etc).

Take a look for rubbing marks too (the fact that you have your brakes applied loads the suspension).

Just got to get in there and take a looksie.

Good luck.

Whatever you do don't wait until it makes itself evident. I made that mistake and my balljoint went. Luckily I was only going about 15mph. Did some lower control arm damage and put the pony in the stable for a few days. Had I been going any faster I would have been fooked. I lost all steering and the car probably would have been somewhere beside in my lane of choice.

The way I test a ball joint is:

1) Jack up the car so the suspension is unloaded
2) Set up jack stands and all necessary safety items
3) Use a pry bar inbetween the spindle and the LCA

If you notice any movement (seperation) of the two parts than the Joint is suspect. This is my backyard mechanic trick and I am sure there are better way's to check.

The leverage test can be misleading on OEM balljoints (with wear indicators), as they have a spring inside them which loads the joint even when it is sloppy. Just FYI.
