I want a CB radio, any ideas on mounting/installation?

yea im a hick, and actually id like one of those rectangular ones with all the knobs and buttons on it so i can mess with it on long highway trips. I think it would be cool to mount it up above your head above the console.

Breaker, breaker good buddy what's your 20, come back, over. 10-4. :rlaugh:

Seriously. Summit has a very small unit that would easily fit in the arm rest or under the passenger seat. What about the aweful looking antenna? It's $119.95. The pic below is the entire unit. Hook up power and an antenna and you are all set. Slip it under the seat or in the glove box (well maybe not in the tiny sorry excuse for a glove box :D ) or in the center console. And it'll be there if you need it. Problem with CB radios is if you need help, someone has to be listening to hear you call for help.

My advice (without reading the above posts, which I'm sure are similar,) is to buy an old Ford truck and mount it to the ceiling.. then use a brass coat hangar from Home Depot to mount on the A-pillar to hang the microphone from.

That truck set up in a Mustang would make me want to go 10/100 no matter what my 20.

I've had CB's in a few cars over the years.
What I would suggest for a pleasing look is one of the remote style. like was pictured above you can hide the control box somewhere and then just have the mic.
Now if your serious and want all the knobs and buttons to play with. Maybe replace your radio with an aftermarket deck and try and shove a thin cb in under it. A real good shop should be able to make it work and look good too.
The biggest hurdle I think your going to have is an Att. Mounting it and it not looking all 1970's trailerpark trashyish.

I actually have one myself! I just went with a slim one and jammed it in between the seat and the center console. Then I bought a magnetic antenna that I can take town or put up whenever. Most people think I am a cop when I do that...

I wanted one in my 2003 ZQ8 S10, but didnt want a hillybilly look, so I wanted to go with something low profile. I bought one of the small ones that was a high output on Ebay. Someone had it from brand new-still sealed in package in their closet. I then found a nice high output midland antenna on Ebay, as well. It looks like a cell phone antenna, but gets really good reception. I can just unscrew it when I dont want it on there, but it is pretty unnoticable anyway, so I leave it on. I threw the CB in my console where the tape deck used to be.
