About time! Just waiting for the grill (and the money) and the kit will be off to paint. But I got the exhaust a few days ago, and I couldn't just let it sit there. One less thing to do when the body kit goes on. Actually, it looks pretty old school with the side pipes like they are right now. I'll have to get some day pictures on sunday... but here's a couple of shots and a crappy video from my camera, and also a picture of the routing underneath, I know some were interested.

and yes, it looks like it's sitting high.. it just got off the jackstands about 3 minutes before those pics. still not sure if we're lowering it. alot of crappy cement around here, including our driveway (which should be replaced in a month). After taking it in the driveway a few times tonight, I realized it's not going up the driveway again until we get a new one.

actually, after pulling off the factory one and installing this, it seems this was a better and easier route than the factory style. The factory piping had to be smashed to fit between the frame and the axle, which looks kinda restricting.

and nice avatar lol... haWhat?!?!

so does the sideskirt just go over the the stock skirt? how close are those tips to the bottom of that sideskirt? are the mufflers welded in? and does anyone have numbers on the performance increase or decrease? thanks.

the side skirt replaces the factory skirt. There is 1/4" gap all the way around the tips and the skirts. They are no welded in, they use the same type of fittings as the factory exhaust. I don't know about numbers. Wasn't really worried about that. I'm sure it was between 5 and 10 hp to the wheels. Could be more... I dunno. The intake and tuner did wonders already.

Take what I said in stride.. I was just guessing. This catback will give you just as much hp as any other catback. I just don't wanna say 20 hp and have it be like 8... I'm no ricer lol. I always guess low, and if it's higher, great... They're straight thru magnaflow's, so I'm sure it's about as high as you can get with any catback. Next year we'll have to get the off-road pipe and really open her up.

I don't see how there could be problems with them not being welded. They use the same exact fittings as the factory. The pipes actually go inside of each other, then the brackets go on top of both and clamp them together. There's no way the mufflers could fall, or be pulled out.

The tips are held in the same way.

I meant there go the mufflers as in "I DONT NEED NO STINKING MUFFLERS" Id delete them again like i have right now.

I understand that the cuts are perpendicular to the road surface. Thanks for the additional photo anyways.

What I was attempting to ask was whether or not the exhaust exited the vehicle at an angle:

What this in effect creates is a pair of visually larger ovals for the tips from a set of smaller diameter exit pipes. Or are the exhaust tips that everyone actually sees pretty much indicative of the true exhaust diameter ?

Oh ok.. lol... They're straight through's anyways... All they really do is produce sound...

As for the angled question (now that I "get" it)... no, they're not angled. They come straight out. If you look at the first pic on the underneath, you can kind of see this.

Oh yeah, of course they will... But from afar, they still look pretty cool & retro. They at least look good enough to put on even though the skirts aren't painted yet, 'cuz they sure as hell aren't going on before pant.

Thank you DarkFireGT for putting out a side exhaust S197...Sweet:SNSign: My questions are how does it drive any ground clearance problems so far? Most importantly how does it sound from inside the car?
