Opinions on paint on the underside of the car

Currently I am doing wheel wells black (zero rust) and the rest of the chassis (zero rust) blue.

I will at the very least spray the zero rust clear coat on everything.

Car will be blue, so I was seriously considering painting the underside of the chassis the body colour.

Any opinions on this, our car will be weekend cruiser / show n go car, definitely not a pure show car.

I am not sure I like the idea of two colours of blue on the car either. I am not going to do black or undercoating or anything like that

yeah, most of the bedliners out now can be color matched to whatever color the car is, plus it acts just like undercoating and even has superior sound absorption than regular undercoating. i will eventually have this done to my car except i will go with black

The bedliners are good but if you are looking at them for sound adsorption I wouldn't recommend them for that alone. I had my last truck done inside and outside the cab and was not impressed and the reason I did it was for sound and well spent alot of money for nothing. On the plus side the cab will probley last for 50 years. I am looking into this for my mustang.

I have heard some great stuff about it so far.
 
I used a 3M under coat on my mustang and after the under coat dryed
acrlic exterrior paint was brushed on.

Looks good.

We get a heckuva lot of rain here. I don't plan on making driving it on rainy days, but could get caught once in a while.

I have been thinking about it, and I think I will probably just stick with the blue rust check, unless I can tint it closer to the body colour. That way it will be really easy to touch up the underside of the car, if I do more welding, or any spot repairs
 
I like to do the undercarriage in body color or regular black epoxy primer/sealer, but I always do the wheel wells in a good rubberized undercoating. It really cuts down road noise and protects the top surfaces of the fenders from damage from gravel or whatever thrown up from below. If I were building trailer queens I'd do something different or prettier, but I'm not.

I highly recommend something different than the Zero Rust clear coat. I did my entire engine bay with ZR and it stated it needed a top coat, so i spent the $50 on a gallon of their clear and the results were horrible. The ZR layed down nicely and was easily thinned. The clear coat shot out of the gun in spider webs and would react to every thinner i tried. I even contacted the rep for ZR and he said that the clear was drying just as it exited the gun and thus the reason for the spider web effect. I tried the recommended thinners (even though the can said DO NOT THIN on the label) and the clear turned to a solid ball of plastic. I eventually just sprayed the clear without thinner and with the spiderwebs and it looked horrible. I then sprayed another coat of Zero Rust over the clear and then topcoated with Krylon spray bombs. The clear was wayyyy to glossy and didn't lay very smooth. The clear has a "plastic" appearance and not a painted surface. I have pics at home but not at work. My 0.02
