I am looking at these "05+ specific" wheels from www.mustangtuning.com (the 18x9/18x10 combo) but yet I see that the front wheel requires a 1/4" spacer. I remember seeing a thread concerning this with someone from mustangtuning chiming in but I can't find it now!

I remember the need for spacers being an issue with 2 different suppliers of Ford's brake calipers. Did anything ever get resolved... is mustangtuning going to come up with an 05 specific Bullitt deep dish wheel that doesn't require a spacer? I just don't like the idea of using a spacer on there. Are any of you guys running these wheels with the spacers w/ no issues?
this is the set I'm looking at: http://www.mustangtuning.com/chrome-2005-deep-dish-bullitt-wheels-18x9-18x10.html

but I'm KINDA debating the anthracite 18x9 FR500's http://www.mustangtuning.com/wheel-replicas-anthracite-2005-fr500-wheel.html almost solely because they don't mention a need for a spacer.

Can anybody shed some light on the spacer issue, should I just take it with a grain of salt and buy the Bullitts I really want?

thanks!

The whole spacer issue is crapola , I am waiting till they fix the problem or I simply won't buy the wheels. Like you I find it rediculous to purchase any wheel that needs a spacer. To me its like asking for trouble. I talked to my mechanic and he said to wait or purchase a different wheel.

One more thing don't buy the factory 18's they're ugly. Be original and find a combo that is not slapped on almost every factory GT

oh don't worry.... I agree with you, I don't like either of the OEM 18's either. The fanblades dont look TOO BAD in person, but these aftermarket 18" bullitt wheels still have the look of the 01 Bullitts, unlike the 18" OEM Bullitts Ford is offering now.

still need the space

I bought those exact wheels from mustangtuning.com and I needed a spacer. They work fine but be careful because mustangtuning said they included it in the package and when they showed up there wasn't any. I had to have the wheel and tire shop that installed them order the spacers and it cost me an extra $40.

I got a Black GT on order right now. And I got the OEM "64w" 18in Polished wheels on my build sheet, Im considering calling the guy and asking him to remove them and just get the 17in wheels and buy some aftermarket. Do you guys think some chrome FR500 would look good on a Black Mustang GT, with painted red calipers.

call mustang tuning and tell them you didnt get the spacer and they will make you whole on the cost. They did for me. I have the 18/9 18/10 with the spacer and i love them no problens what so ever.. If you are that woried about a sacer you can buy a 7/32 spacer for $12 and use that. it will give you a little more thread to bite on to. I got my spacers from pep boys. You only need them on the front for an 05 not sure what the deal is for 06.

adnlyn, do you have a pic of your car with the 18x9/18x10 deep dish wheels?

if 2003gt's wheels are 18x9 and aren't the "deep dish"... I think they look perfectly fine. I would like to have those up front and the 18x10 deep dish in the back

I've got the deep dishes from mustangtuning. Spacers all around due to the caliper clearance issue. They came with 2 spacers for the front. Turns out the back didn't clear either so I emailed them and they sent me a 2nd set of spacers at no charge. No issues at all.

Give me a call. I can get you reimbursed for that amount. We ran out of spacers and were waiting for more, but decided to ship the wheels out sans spacers in order to get the wheels to you. There was supposed to be a note on the receipt letting you know that the spacers were delayed, but obviously we missed that on your order hence why you were missing them.

Also concerning the spacer issue in general for these wheels.

From what we have heard the 05's DEFINATELY need the spacers for the front, but not the rear. The 06's, however, do need them for both the front AND rear. The manufacturer of these wheels is Topline wheels, and in talking to them over the past few months we have been able to get a retooling of the wheels done with an adjusted offset so that the caliper issue is resolved. Current status on that is that the 9" wheels are done being retooled and are on US soil, and the 10" wheels are just about done being retooled. I believe the 10" shipment is supposed to be on the water right now coming from overseas, so they should be here shortly. As far as a set date for arrival of the new corrected offset rims, I dont have one as of yet. We are still trying to figure out when exactly they will be arriving to us.

It took a few months to get the wheels (almost 4 months to be exact), but the corrected offsets should be to us soon.

To clear things up from what your saying, I will be able to order 18x9 and 10 deep dish bullits that will fit an 05 without the spacer correct? I refuse to buy the wheels with the spacer so if the problem is fixed mustangtuning will have my money.
