I have been re-reading all the threads on this, and wanted to get a new one started now that we know alot more about our engines. I just found out I will be comming into some cash in January and will actually have enough for a Turbo or SC kit (with install costs) for my car. So far, I know I have to do the following to prepare for it:

1. Girdle w/relocation bracket
2. Should probably get new pistons as well

What about the heads? The CS6 is SC and Mike's 11 second stang is Turbo'd. My understanding is that the turbo takes a bit to wind up, so using a two stage nitrous/turbo setup would yeild the best results. Also, from a hard launch perspective, is the LCA's really a must? Scrming, perhaps you can give some input on how your car hooks with and with out them.

I'm leaning towards a super charger right now.

Thoughts, opinions?

I'm planning on getting Mike's turbo system and his LCAs. It looks like the best system out there. One of the things I like about the turbo is that if you drive normally, you won't get into the boost and should still get decent gas mileage. Also, it doesn't cause a drag on your engine.

Ok, did Mike give you a final price on it yet. Is it a complete kit, no extra parts needed?

The Turbo will probably be more expensive than the SC, but I am leaning towards the turbo. From what I have read on Mike's site and from an e-mail it will be a complete kit. Not sure if I want to Turbo charge my V6 or put the money down on a Shelby in 08. Hmm, if I invest wisely, perhaps both...

Forgive my ignorance, but what are LCAs?

A properly configured turbo setup on a car that comes stock with 240 BHTQ should NOT have any turbo lag at all. If there is turbo lag, a few things would need to be addressed. The size of the turbo; specifically the hot side and/or the headers, primary size and exhaust gas velocity pre-turbine... e.g. I run a T3/T04E 57/63 on a stock SVO Mustang block with NO LAG - and this turbo is good for 400+ WRHP on a 2.3 liter. With the power output of the stock V6, this turbo would be a pretty good match up and ½ a bar would get you in to GT territory without much risk… and no lag.

Now in my opinion (and only my opinion) it would stand to reason that the primary focus for a V6 turbo kit for the masses be street characteristics, not BIG turbo 11 second passes at the track. Anyone can turn up the wick after the initial kit is installed, be it via a boost and fuel increase or a bigger turbo. The engine would probably take 15 PSI for years or a few hundred ¼ mile passes without internal mods - maybe more... BUT it took 10 yeas for someone to chance that kind of torture on the 3.8

For the most part, when owners/enthusiasts are modding their new car, good street characteristics and long term reliability and now fuel economy, have to be considered in the BOOST fun factor equations. Only about 1 in 1000 owners will even consider turbo charging their 6, and only 1 in 100 may push beyond the 7PSI realm of reason. 1 in the total yearly production in a single year may – and I stress may - be purposefully BOOSTED to push the STOCK motor right to its destruction point to serve the grater good of finding the 4.0 liter limitations – and who really has that kind of throw away money?
