What do Canadians really think about guns for self-defence?

The gun control law sucks!! I don't own a gun but I still think it's a major waste of money. Don't really have any thoughts on using guns for protection but it would seem to me that criminals may think twice about robbing a home if there was a chance the home owner may be armed too.

why should something so dangerous be made to make some people feel safe.
I think that chick was lucky that she wasn't dealing with someone who has less care. Abviously this guy is just as scared to use that gun because it never came out.
personally i think that chick with the gun is just as dangerous because of the lack of serious tranning.
Is there a way to really deal with killing someone, and still come out a better person? Killing people is not something i want to get used to.

Well, I'm happy to report that since the introduction of the Canadian Firearms Registry, farmers and ranchers are no longer tearing up the streets of Calgary with their sporting rifles and shotguns. I just can't understand why the asian gangs that ARE shooting up our streets haven't registered their guns?!?

There's $2 Billion you will never get back. Think about that during the coming federal election.

 :Word:

When I went to "Class" to get my New F.A.C (or whatever the He3l they call it now) I was talking to a Farmer who wanted to kill one of his Cows with a Hammer and have the News Crews there to film it as a protest of the Gun Law.
Peta would have been proud.

I think using guns for self defense is like going to war for world peace it just doesnt make much sense really....take the U.S for instance they are supposed to have alot of guns, alot of U.S residence carry them for self defense but really who are the victims because of it, children who accidently find a loaded gun and shoot it, kids who take their parents guns to school and kill people, people who accidently fire a gun killing or injuring somebody.

There are alot more effective ways to protect yourself other then using a gun.

For instance a good ol'trusty taser!

p.s. Don't get me started on the whole gun control thing, that has been the biggest waste of money the government has ever done. They could of put some homeless people in shelters and gave them something to eat for that kind of money.

Instead they decide to make sure the average canadian who wants to own a riffle needs to register there weapon so if they decide to go on a killing rampage they have a registered gun... Note: anyone with half a brain would never use there own registered gun to kill somebody then leave it at the scene of a crime..

FYI according to farenheit 911 there are more guns in canada per capita than the US.

I myself always wanted a desert eagle .50 cal more just because a big ass chrome gun is just plain sexy and the guys at the range would probably chit. I am pretty sure I would use it to remove the head of the POS that was in my house uninvited. Far as I'm concerned if you violate my sanctity especially in my house you just surrendered all of your rights. If I had a tazer handy like Jordy says that would be a hell of a lot more fun and I promise the guy would learn that crime is bad! I dont know what do you guys think gets the point of zero tolerance across better?

I have always wanted an eagle 5.0 as well, I have one but it doesnt shoot real bullets, looking to get the real version down the road...and there are already lots of people in regina anyways that take their eagles to the range.. i know a few...

I have nothing against owning a gun to take to the range or if you are gun collector why not, the only thing im concerned about is if you are using a gun for protection you pretty much have to keep it loaded, and what if your kids find that gun, they end up killing more people then they are protecting..

There are alot more less lethal ways of effectively protecting yourself and love ones rather then a gun or a DE5.0, which reminds me of the movie "******" where that guy whips out the DE5.0 ( I forget his name right now damnit)

There is a certain element of society that probably wouldn't think twice about doing a home invasion or assaulting a stranger if it weren't for the fear that sooner or later they would cross paths with someone with a firearm. As long as people are allowed to have guns then that fear of the unknown keeps them in line.I wouldn't advise anyone to keep a loaded weapon at their side for self defense, but as long as there is a small percentage of people who do carry concealed weapons or keep a loaded gun with them while watching TV in their living rooms the rest of us are safer.

I have my licenses and all of that, but not one of my 8 guns is registered, or ever will be.

The Rangers don't care out here in New Brunsiwck anyway. Only time u worry during hunting season is if the RCMP stop you.
Or if they read Mustang forums :D
