i'm gonna see what my rpms are at again at the highway. i forget now but i remember they were high for it "not having gears." i think my car sat at 3k going 80 w/o them in...?

so are you sayin 3.73 downshifting to 3rd at 80 is faster than a 4.10 on the highway?? if ur on the highway ur gonna race from 60-80 rolls... for street like 25-45.. i already bought the 4.10 but wouldnt 3.90 be the best then being right in the middle.

3.73's downshifting into 3rd would beat another car with same mods/both stock than 4.10's downshifting into 3rd. A 3.73 to a 4.10 is a noticeable difference. I don't drop my 96 into 3rd at 80 with the 4.10's, it really isn't that fast and the RPM's jump so high, I just use 4th. On the 97 with 3.73's, downshifting into 3rd is a good feeling dropping into 3rd at 80MPH. 4th is simply not enough. Even when my 96 was not blown, 3rd at 80 was still too high, I don't want to peg the rev limiter or spin a bearing. It just depends what you want to do. Light to light or drag racing at a legal 1/4 mile track go with 4.10's. From a roll/ downshifting and so-on, go with 3.73's because they will outrun a car with a 4.10 everytime.

The Cobra has a knock sensor, where the GT doesn't Both the GT and Cobra have a 80mm Maf. Granted the 96-98 Cobra has horrible heads verse the C heads on the 99/01's they will work good with a nice port job and some valve work.

The reason some might not experience that pull in the low end but up top on older mileaged cobras could be that the IMRC's are dirty. Clean them and see if it persists.

I say 4.10's and 4.30's on a daily driven NA cobra.

damn, i almost wanna send the 4.10 back... it is a nuts gear tho. i dont want it to be the factor if i lose a highway race though. how are 3.90's for shift points etc?

I have yet to talk to anybody with the 3.90 gear. I would think that it would be right in the middle. 4.10 is not good on the freeway though at high speeds. I would bet that my 97 Cobra with a 3.73, or even a 99-04 GT with stock 3.27 gears would take my blown 96. No joke. 3.27, 3.55 and 3.73 are the best for the freeway. It really is just up to you on what you like to do best with your car.

yea i def. wanna talk to someone with 3.90 .
i love the the 4.10 droppin into 2nd at 40. even 3rd at 60.. dead stop race needs the 4.10 someone needs to invent a ring and pinion that can change electronically  im gonna have to start a thread askin about 3.90's. i may sell mine and get them before theyre installed who knows!!

Yeah and then you have little to no 4th and 5th gear pull unlike 4.10's and 4.30's.

Again how many people race from 60-120? The 4.10's and 4.30's are a good street/strip gear and still allow some 4th and 5th gear pulling. They are great from a stop and from a roll(20 mph).
