What is a "respectable" quarter mile time?

i'd say about 12 seconds is respectable, considering a lot of cars are coming out running 13's out of the box--12 gives you the extra oomph.

I've compiled a list to recap this thread:
That 12.5 was all weather. Atco at this time of year can have a DA of -1200ft+ so when you correct the time, it's slower than what you actually ran. 425hp and 4200lbs without a driver should give it away. The GTO is 3700lbs with 400hp and I'm pretty sure they haven't come close to 12.5.The Hitman said:

Yes I used to go to Atco all the time when I lived in Philly. I know how the track works. 
BTW, I'm not impressed by the 400hp GTO. They run like crap here at Bristol. Every car does.. but they don't turn anything impressive. There's 3 or 4 stock ones that came every week this year.. and every week they all ran about the same thing. And it's not super impressive.
Don't get me wrong.. I really like the GTO.. It's just kinda let me down.
I have yet to see an SRT8 run at Bristol. Maybe next year, and then I can compare them at this track. Our DA blows here. Especially in the summer.

Can't deny the GTO is quick!
Same can be said for the blower Cobra's and other cars as well.
Since this thread is about respect .....................
ANYBODY can write a check and drive away in a quick car.
My respect goes to the man who BUILDS a quick car.
Even the more so if he did it with a small block Ford motored Stang which gives 50 cubic inches to the Chevy boys.

RC, did you paint your interior yourself? If so, what prep did you use, what paint, and what clear??
Are you happy with your results? Does it look like it was painted at an autobody shop? Any problems with it so far?

No probs at all, and it came out so nice that A guy on here (Harleyxxxx) (I forget his whole SN) shipped me his parts to paint for him. I told him it was a cinch, and I felt guilty collecting money for something so easy, but he just didnt have the time. He has since painted his entire interior and it looks awesome. The good thing about it is if there is a problem, the parts are so easy to remove and you can start over...just takes time and patience more than anything.InMyPrimeSVT said:

You had a plan and did what was needed to make it happen
Just cause you did not turn the wrenches has no bearing on how everything came out

Actually, after the INITIAL S/C install, I did turn a lot of wrenches (with lots of help from Joe, Roger, Javi, Jose, etc), but more importantly, Ive hurt my back more than once lifting and getting underneath (prior back surgery).
Im trying to learn more myself, but there comes a time with a 10 and 8 YO daughter, to pay someone else for some of the work and spend time with my girls. Since I have NO plans to get rid of the car, I can keep it status quo for awhile...when they get older, I will have LOTS of time to work on it.

I want high 13's in my vert eventually. More than that will likely get me into trouble on the street.

I'd say low 12's is very respectable for a daily driven car, regardless what it is. Thats where I'd like to be within a yr or two.
