What would all you guys rather have. A newer Corvette (03-05) that is all stock, or a nicely modded 03/04 Cobra. The Cobra would have around 450+ rwhp and rwtq will some other nice add-ons in suspension, styling, ect. i know there is a good size price difference, but i am just seeing what people would do. I was thinking that a vette would out handle most cobras, but wouldn't a Cobra give a vette a run for its money or even take one from a dig or a roll? Let me know what all you guys are thinking....

I'm definatly with him, if you want go to the saleen forum thingy in here and read the thread about an Z06 in vegas and stuff and there was some pretty good arguing and points made, I would go with a 03/04 Cobra and turn it into a sleeper that will kill an 06 Z06

Apples to Oranges.
Do you want a car that is fast, and raw.
Or do you want a car that is fast, balanced, has some prestige, and a much better platform to modify.
Im aware there is quite a price difference in the cars you mentioned(03+ vette vs. 03-04 cobra), but 01-02 vettes are usually 2-5k more than the Cobras. And often the corvettes are low milege, babied, and stock, retaining the factory warranty.

450rwhp cobra is going to kill any vette besides the new z06.

I don't think a stock 450rwhp is going to kill 02-04 Z06's. I think a drivers race until higher speeds. Just what I've seen from a few video's and times posted by C5 Z06 types. Now against regular C5's and C6's, a 450rwhp Cobra should take them.

If it were me, I would take an 03/04 Cobra over a regular C5 but not a C5 Z06Vette. After spending some seat time behind a buddies 03 Z06, they're simply awesome cars that pull on the top end like my 03 Cobra used to with around 440rwhp. Aero and lightweight help in that department vs my old Cobra. Handling is in a different league.

Here's a list of times compiled on a corvette site. Just goes to show how potent a stock or near stock C5 Z06 is. Don't get me wrong, I love 03/04 Cobra's, had one for two years but got to give credit where credit is due. I remember running at the track with a 2.93 pulley, cat-back, cai and tune (440rwhp/440rwtq SAE) running a best of 12.9@114 on street tires. A stock Z06 was running 12.7's@115-116. Never ran him but impressive for a stock car vs a slightly modded one. Now when I added the ported blower, 2.8 pulley, aftermarket reservoir, larger intercooler and tune, would have been much tougher for a stock C5 Z06 to take my car, all esle being equal.

I personally would take the modded 03-04' over a stock 03-04' Z06. Don't get me wrong, I love the Z06, but you will have approx. 100hp advantage
over the Z, which will allow you to win most runs against a stocker. Now new
C6 Z06, that's a whole new ballgame. I just watched a video on SVTPerformance.com of a 450rwhp 03'/04' get totally walked buy 8-10 cars by a a stock C6 Z06.:nonono: I guess that's what you get when you drop $80K.

Problem is, 100hp advantage isn't a gaurantee win vs even the C5 Z06. Look at some those 1/4 mile times above, bone stock. Granted track and driver have a lot to do with it but the car weighs less than 3100lbs. However, getting more than just 100 rwhp shouldn't be to difficult for an 03/04 Cobra.

I think for all around sports car you can't beat the vette. Imho the 03/04 terminator Cobra's take more skill to drive, which may play a part in the hp/et comparo. I've driven my buddy's 02 Z06 and it was a helluva lot easier to launch. I am running similar mods to your former ride and was able to pull a 11.95 @ 120 on the stock F1's. Just food for thought. Makes you wonder if the new Z06 will encourage Ford to put the "Revised Cobra roadster" into production. That would be sports car/v/ sports car and something tells me it may be a little closer. 3100lbs vs 3100 lbs.
