I'm thinking of heading for the Woodward Dream Cruise this year. Can anyone tell me the best place to stay to see all the action? I don't want to stay in a dump or a bad part of town.

Sorry to burst your bubble.... The dream cruise was held in August this past summer. Most of the Mustang crowd hangs out around 9mile and woodward (Ferndale Mi,)

I live at 11mile and woodward (Berkley) Anywhere north of 8 mile (Detroit to the south) and you are typically OK. I might have a BBQ next year [we'll see]

Opps... I guess I read your post and it sounded like you wanted to go sometime in December.

But yeah, sometime in the summer there will probably be a couple of threads on who is going and where everyone will be at.

Yep this coming August, I usually stay a little way away to avoid some of the people, But like he said anywhere above 8 mile and youll be ok, there is some nice places near royal Oak, and its right next to woodward. Or Southfield, thats only 5 10 min away.

Oh, and I also forgot: Depending on what direction you are coming from (East or West) You should look for a place on that side of Woodward. That way you don't have to try and get across Woodward while you are traveling (It's a lot of cars everywhere!) Makes things that much easier.

you can stay just about anywhere north of 8 mile and you will be fine, royal oak, ferndale, etc. to be honest, you can get to woodward dream cruise from most suburban areas in about 20-30minutes max so dont let where you stay bother you. Some of the funnest events are on friday so you want to make sure you look into that as well.

to check the rides etc., if you take your mustang you can sign up to park for about 10 bucks at Mustang Alley, which is open to mustangers of all years. do a web search for motor city terminators and you will find the mustang alley. I did that last year and there was maybe 100 stangs of varying years (weathering a huge thunderstorm for 1/2 the day) and the new mustang design team there as well. I will be doing that again this year. the location for mustang alley was nine mile road east of woodward in ferndale. they also let you come and go as much as you want to cruise and check things out, give you a goody bag etc. IMO a great way to enjoy the event, just hope for good weather.

regards

Sam

I was at a friends house eating some BBQ when the sky's opened up this year. I had the top down and was headed out to put it up as the sky started to look ugly. About the time I started putting up the top, the sky just opened up and dumped all that rain. :Damnit: But it was fun because that cleared off woodward and made the show much more enjoyable!

Can you post up the link to Mustang Alley. I'd like to check it out even though, I am two miles up the road....

It sure was muggy after that rain storm moved through, though. Still, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. What a great event! :nice:
