I am looking to turbo my 87 lx and was wondering what I could do to get it to work with the following set-up

) XR4TI turbo engine with turbo.
) Converted to fuel injection
) Intercooler in front of the rad
) cold air intake (removal of factory air box)
) then proper exhaust mods.

Could a chip or programmer help with application? (I know about the injectors...Thinking about going with some 30# or 35# units with an upgraded fuel pump either a 195 or something bigger)

Thanks,
Nate

I haven't seen the engine yet but I was told that it was a carbed xr4ti engine. I am wanting to use my intake, fuel rail and the required size injectors. BUT I am not wanting to do the whole re-wiring like is involved in doing the turbo chicken swap. I dont to have to add any more wirs that what I already have. Are you following me? Or have I lost you?

Nate

Well, the person with the carbed xr4ti engine lost me...there is no such thing. If you look at the engine and it's carbed, don't bother...it's not worth anything.

So basically you want to turbocharge it the hard and expensive and unreliable way instead of doing it easy and cheap? Is that correct?

Just out of curiosity how would doing it the way I want to be more expensive?
I mean turbo coupes with a good engine or wiring are few and far between in my neck of the woods, at least for cheap anyways.
But I can piece together the stuff minus the wiring for relatively cheap (like around $400.00) then i would have to get the computer or chip flashed to run right. tc go for like 2 grand in good running order. Hey stinger ive me a link to your sight so I can see what I am up against.

Thanks,
Nate

Well, you just listed about 600 worth of stuff, plus all the little things you aren't even considering at this time (and won't know you need until you do it).

You can't tell me there are no 2.3T's in Alabama...I know better. That is one of the hotbeds for them...you just aren't looking in the right places.

By the way to have the chip installed, programmed etc etc etc..

All the stuff you need for the wiring part is : cutter, male/female electric connectors, and approx 15' of electric wire.. you can get all this for less than 20bucks at home depot :)

I idn't say that I coul;dn't find any, I said that they were few and far between with a good engine and good wiring and for a good cheap price. When I do find one with two out of the three, the third is way off base. Either the engine is blown and I can't hear it run, the wiring is butchered from where some redneck half-assed it trying to get it to run, or the price is up around 2 to 3 grand. I love my little 2.3, but I will v-8 it before I spend that much on a car that I am going to strip and part out.

Nate.

Oh yea Stinger, thanks for the site info. If I can find a decent tc then it will come in handy.
