Stereo and dome light not coming on...

Ok, so I was told I could butcher the stock wires on my car stereo and match up colors to install a Pioneer cd player I have. When I tried installing it, my dome light went out and my stereo never came back on. I was told I blew a fuse but I checked the fuses for both and neither of them were blew. I have no idea what to do. This was stupid on my part and I guess this is what happens when you don't have anyone to help you out with things around here. Do you guys have any suggestions or do you know what the problem is?

The fuse is blown, check the owners manual for which fuse it is.

Buy an cd player adapter (they are like 4 bux at walmart) and your cd player will plug right into the stock harness...that is unless you already cut up the stock harness...which is sounds like you did...

Yeah....after being told I could do it without a problem, I cut it :( But I reattached the wires and and put electrical tape on them. Hopefully a cd player harness will still work. If not, I guess im SOL

noo man, dont cut anything. Ive had this happen to me so many times. Its the #15 fuse in the front. Its the first one on the very front left. Well, its one of those 2. Just pull them out and check them, and replace the blown one.

On a 93, fuse #8 (15A) covers the radio, courtesy lights, warning chime and power mirrors. If all of them don't work, it's probably the fuse. If, in addition to those, your power windows and interval wipers don't work, you've cut a BK/LG wire. OOps! You didn't say (I don't think) whether the car came equipped with premium sound or not.

Yes it has premium sound. But I just bought a wire harness for my CD player and I hooked it up. The cd player wouldn't even power on. So I guess I F'ed myself up the arse on this one. Next time I'll have a little bit more patience and get good help on these things instead of taking matters into my own hands.

OK with premium sound, the wires are;

Y/BK - power in RUN (fed by fuse 11)
LG/Y - power constant (fed by fuse 8)
LB/R - radio illumination w/ lights on (fed by dimmer)
BK & BK/LG - grounds
These are all on one connector(C280 - 8 flat pins)
The other radio plug (kind of square - 8 round pins), GOES TO THE FACTORY AMPLIFIER. You will not be able to use it with the aftermarket radio. You must unplug it and jumper across the 8 speaker wires. There are also 3 other wires that go to it;
DB - Radio 'ON' signal
R - Ground
W/P - Battery power.
Don't jumper these to anything.

Sorry, forgot the jumpers.
From the 14 pin to the 8 pin

14 = 8
BR/PK = LB
PK/LB = P/W
DG/O = BR
W/LG = W/R
T/Y = Y
PK/LG = LB/BK
LB/W = W/O
O/LG = LG
These are all on the long continuous side of the 14 pin.

I know they don't seem to fit together, but...

UPDATE

I just removed the fuse from slot 8 which was a green 30, and sure enough it was blown. I powered on the cd player and the display came up and it played a cd fine...but no sound at all, not even from the front speakers. crapola I made sure all of the wires were connected and I'm pretty sure they all are on tight. So I don't know. At least I fixed my fuse problem.

Are you sure you didn't plug into the amplifier feed at the rear of the radio? (The wires coming out the back of the factory unit) As I mentioned, this goes to the premium sound amp under the pass seat. Your radio will not power it. Follow the above instructions to jump the wires to the speakers.

I still say try the #15 fuse. Its blue, the ones up front. I have a 93 with premium sound with the adapter harness. Trust me. Just try it. even though you are probably still right with fuse 30, but still change/check the 15's up front. that was always my problem

SUCCESS!!!

I removed the CD player from the car and took it inside and re-wired everything the RIGHT way. Took it back outside, popped it in, and FINALLY it started playing music. Then I re-installed the sub I had in the car and had a blast for awhile. The blue fuse popped right in and it worked fine. Now I have a dome light, stereo, and door chime. Now I just need new door pins and a thermostat and I'll be set to go:D Thanks for the help guys. If it wasn't for you guys giving me advice that car would still be sitting out there with a non-working sound system and no lights.
