Mods Question

I have a few questions:

1.)What mod should I get next for my 2004 Mustang GT?

I currently have:

U/D Pulleys
Demolet Cold air intake
BBK plenum and 75mm TB
MAC catback system

Which leads me to my next question:

2.) which tuner if any should I get?(predator/SCT) I've heard that with my mods, the Air/Fuel ratio is too lean and if adjusted could add 10-15 more hp. So my question is which tuner can do this and how hard is it to get the right ratio?

I called a local dyno tuner, and he started telling me I needed to get an Anderson PMS which is like $899!!!! then pay him $225 more to do the dyno and tune!!! I would rather buy $1200 heads than pay that.

Also, I spoke with another CAI manufacturer (I wont mention names) and he told me that he hasnt seen gains using the SCT Xcal2 yet with my mods. Is there any truth to that?

any advice? I am willing to spend about $400 for my next mod. Thanks

If I were you, I'd get some gears. They are your best bang for your buck and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. There are quite a few threads on what gears to get to match your setup, whether it be a stick or auto.

Good luck bro.

As far as the tuners go, they really don't help you much. The guy who said he didn't see any gains from the tuner probably wasn't completely lying.

By completely lying I mean they may help your A/F, but a custom dyno tune is the only way to go... I can't really say anything about the Anderson PMS. I doubt you would need that unless he needs it to tune your car with the software that he uses. I suggest looking elsewhere just to see if you can find anybody else that can tune your car w/out it.

If you go with the dyno tune and still have some cash left over, get some work done to your suspension or chassis, such as subframe connectors. But if you can't, gears are the poor man's supercharger.

You didn't say whether you're 5 speed or auto, but if you're 5 speed I'd get an MGW shifter, or gears. You really would be happy with either one, gears would make it seem like you gained more power, but the shifter will drastically improve those sloppy stock shifts.

If you're auto, a nice tranny cooler, and maybe a shift improver kit.. followed by gears.

Since you mentioned you only want to spend 400, you MAY be able to find a place to install gears for cheap.. but it may be over $400 total.

crapola

Your local dyno tuner is full of :bs: .

You'll be fine with a SCT/Predator. However, you have very few mods and a tuner is not yet needed.

I would say a shifter. Gears would put you over $400. How about an X-Pipe?

then you will need the hand hels tuner for that to recalibrate the speedo and since you have an Auto it would be convinient to buy the hand held tuner to firm up your shifts. Auto's do get an advatage for their usage, but you will spend more than $500 gears are like $170-200, the tuner $400, and you will need the install on gears so that goes from $250-450
