so my car has been acting up on me lately..and it's really making me start to consider getting another vehicle! :nonono: well, it's been having some transmission and shifting problems as of recently. in the beginning, going from park to drive or reverse, it would take a few seconds of hesitation. now it's gotten to the point where it doesn't even feel like the transmission is shifting into the gears..i will put it in reverse, press down on the gas pedal and it will just rev then slowly move (almost as if it was standard and were slowwwwwly letting off the clutch)..then i put it in drive, it will do the exact same thing. while it's actually moving, and i mean at a decent speed like 45 mphs, it will pop out of gear and back into it..wellll! yesterday, i jacked the car up, got underneath it and saw that it looks like it's leaking tranny fluid but can't tell from where! it's not only annoying that the tranny is sucking right now, but it drips fluid on my exhause causing it to smoke :nonono: so, suggestions fellas? i was thinkin of going out and buying some tranny fluid right now, but i kinda wanna diagnose the problem before i spend any cash...if worst comes to worse, i leave this damn car in my garage and go out and buy something else...! and i threaten, it may be a HONDA!! AHHHHHcrapola

ps: yeah..and my harmonic balancer is also takin a crap on me...car has been shakin like a mofo and i'm sure it isn't the motor mounts.. :(

**** man, have you checked the fluid level!? Sounds like your VERY low on fluid.

Your torque converter is not engaging...this might be because you're so low on fluid.

If your fluid level is okay, sounds like you need a rebuilt transmission and a new torque converter. A new converter will make your car alot more fun to drive.

alright, well i guess i'll just go out and buy some fluid right now, then try and see where it's leaking from..

edit: if it comes down to needing a new tranny, i'll probably just go ahead and swap in a t5..hate to say it, but it should be fun :D

Have you checked the fluid level yet!!? Why buy fluid if the level is good?

If your car is mostly stock and you planning on leaving it that way swapping in a T5 is a fine idea...

If your planning to go faster/add power later, a T5 is NOT your best bet.

well i checked the tranny fluid, and it was pretty low..i put in a quart and brought the level up a bit..checked it again after runnin it for a while, looks like it may need another quart..it stopped slipping out of gear after the first quart but still hesitated a little but when shifting from park to other gears..
about the t5, if the aode can hold up, i'll probably consider something built a little tougher than a t5. but i definately wanna go to a 5 or 6 speed..a lot funner to drive! i was thinking a tremec of some sort..what would be good with a hci and s-trim combo?
