I was making a left hand turn on a green arrow and this GIANT raised SUV type thing was going really slow around the turn so as soon as i got through the intersection I punched it to get around him but as soon as I punched it and right when I heard my tires break lose, I heard a noise come from the back of my car (i dont remember what it sounded like) and then immidiatly, the entire car started shaking. I pulled into a parking lot right away and noticed that as long as I stay under 10 mph its fine but once i hit like 15 the whole car shakes really bad. did I do something to my rear suspension?

Not likely an axle since it is pretty strong but if you jack it up and remove the brake calipers you would be able to slide the axle out if it were broken. You may have broken the ring and pinion gear. Maybe time for 4.10s.

i would think that what you heard was severe wheel-hop, but i dont know what coulda happened to make your car have problems afterwards...i highly doubt your broke an axle, especially if you only have street tires. Jack it up, check driveshaft, and rotate and wiggle the rear wheels and see what you can hear or observe then report back to us.

Good luck,
Ryan

did you maybe hit a bump or curb and bend wheel possibly?

no i checked all the wheels, and I deffinitely didnt hit anything.

and yes, now that you mention it, it was a "pop" sound because I remember thinking to myself "did I just blow a tire?"

Ill jack it up tomorrow and try everything you all suggested, thanks alot! -ill keep you posted.

Ok, well i jacked my car up, I checked the rear driveshaft linkage, the shocks and I tightened all the lug nuts. I was backing the car out of the driveway to see if I had fixed it and right when my rear wheels went down the curb, I heard a loud pop again so I shut it off and looked under the car -right where the driveshaft meets the transmission there were all of these small shards of greasy metal that closely resembled broken .9 mm mechanical pencil lead. in addition there was a threaded ring with a tear down the side as well. I tried to pull it back into garage but when I put it gear and released the clutch, the RPMs went up, the engine didnt stall but the car didnt go anywhere. I had it towed to my speed shop that also does repairs and then I called to let them know it was on its way and they said it sounded like I need a new driveshaft. however, the tow guy didnt seem to be able to get it in gear so it may be a transmission problem. If I need a tranny, I would get the T56 because i hear it can hanle a ton of power while the T365whatever can only handle just under 400 ft/lbs of torque. how much power would I loose with the T56 6speed? whats a reasonable price to pay for a T56? is it a good idea to buy a used transmission if its cheaper than a new one?

Sounds like you blew out the u-joint. Inside the grease caps are needle bearings that resemble pencil lead. I bet thats all it is. U-joints are about $45 if i remembe correctly...or you can opt to put in a aluminum driveshaft.

Its a 2002 with with 68,000 miles. blown daily driver with 75 mm TB. 315 rwhp on a cool dry day.

Im glad to hear that those pencil lead like shards most likely came from the U joint. I would HATE to shell out 2K fior a new tranny. though if I did, id probably grab a T56 -anyone know how much power loss id experience with a 6 speed?
