I wanted to wish everyone (whom celebrates, of course  ) a very Merry Christmas.

For all of you, like myself, with young children, I hope the little ones found the magic of the morning in amongst the wrapping paper, bows and boxes! :nice:

From myself and the :SNSign: S-197 crew, Happy Holidays Everyone!!

yeah merry xmas to you too. but what i think you said is very sad. the fact that you have the obligation to be politically correct and say "to those who celebrate" i mean comeon. The majority of america celebrates. and yet serperation of church and state says we shouldnt call it a christmas tree. but a holiday tree instead. which is just sad. i guess what i learned about democracy was wrong, the majority does not rule, and is often outruled by the minority. well in spite of this. merry CHRISTMAS to you all. and to all those who dont celebrate christmas well thats too bad. you are going to have to sit there and read me wishing you a merry Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, king of the jews. yeah i said it! what are you gonna do??? haha

Sy,

It is what it is. This is a public forum and we have a plethora of individuals of varying religions and backgrounds on here. I was not being politically correct as much as targeting a specific group of individuals.

By the way, nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus was born on December 25th. It was an integration technique employed by 3rd century Christians to help integrate the barbarians who celebrated Pagen religions, specifically the Winter Solstice of December 22nd. I celebrate the life and death of my Lord everyday in everything I do. I do not contain my love for Jesus on a single day that is a commericalized mockery of his teachings and life. In those teachings he asks us to exhibit foregiveness and to not judge.

Oh and by the way he WASN'T King of the Jews. Some say he was a carpenter while others say he was a Rabbi, which at the time would make him a teacher. From what little can be gleaned from text he was a simple and unassuming man. His disciples, on the other hand, had bigger plans following his untimely demise.

Glad to see that there are at least 2 of us here who know a little about history.

Merry Christmas Jen.

To all the holier that thou people, Happy Winter Solstice Feast.

haha ohh no i wasnt intending to say that jesus was born on dec. 25th no not at all, infact i know better than that. well id hope so after years of christian pvt school and sunday school being raised both in the evangelical and catholic churches as well as having taken 2 courses in Salvation through art history and Spirituality at a pvt catholic school now.

i appologize if i appeared to be poorly versed in christian history but i assure you thats not the case. the christian calender is often recognized differently than the church calender of the othodox christians in such places as Russia where they celebrate a weeks after we do in the states. Like you said Jen the date of christ's birth does not really matter. and that goes for weither your agnostic/atheist/ or a practicing Christian. We all recognize the Jesus as appeared in history and the point i was trying to make was not the actual event of christmas but the glorification of the seperation of church and state. The idea that its not ok to call something a "Christmas Tree" is repulsive to me personally. I do not discriminate against any other religion and i do not impose my non belief to them. I believe the atheists display a great deal of dissrespect by not tolerating the celebration of this holiday.

Ohh and Martimus.. yes he is the king of the Jews, it just depends on who you ask.. ;)

and yes the ancient peoples who were intergrated into the christian culture were not just barbarians but just an assimilation of converted jews who were expelled from the temple for proclaiming Jesus as the messiah as well as the skeptics from the ancient mystic religions.

well yes i understand that you were not trying to be politically correct but i kinda just get a little razzled when anyone just feels obligated to deminish the holiday which for alot of people holds great religious value not just as you said a "mockery" of the idea behind the season. I guess there can just be no sure way to please everybody in the world so thats the solution we have for it... call it a seasonal holiday representing nothing more than what the hallmark giftcard company tells us..
what a sad commentary. but i gues thats life...

Beautiful thing about being human is the propensity for independent thought. In other words people have the ability to believe what they choose to believe. After all there are some who believe in the existance of Santa Claus, some who believe in the existance of the Easter bunny, and some who believe that our President has a clue!!! :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Understand I do not disagree with your right to decide what YOU believe... I do, however, disagree with your comment that infers that others do not have the right to believe what they believe.

Well, try not to be so repulsed. the Xmas tree was hijacked by Christians from the Northern European pagens. Evergreen trees with electric lights hanging off them have nothing to do with the birth of Christ.

Xmas trees are just something that the Northern European pagens imported into Christianity when they joined. Sort of the same thing as the Santareas importing killing chickens into their version of the Roman Catholic religion.

Merry Christmas not Merry Xmas BTW. with all the politicaly correctness going around it's funny i seem to be the only one having a problem with someone chopping up the name of the Lord.

Darn this peddistal is high!
