Stats/numbers question on 95/96 Impala

I have heard of a special edition '96 Impala that came with either an Lt1 or an Ls1. How would they stack up against a '99 Cobra? I've been hearing some wild rumors about them, and I'm just wondering if they are anything special except for the Ls/t1 engine.

Sounds like an Impala SS. Unless it's been heavily modified, or the driver is a complete fool, the Cobra should eat it for lunch. The specs on the Impala SS are a curb weight of 4036 lbs, 260 HP and torque of 330 ft lbs. The 99 Cobra curb weight is about 3400 lbs, 320 HP and 317 ft lbs of torque.

The torque in the Cobra comes on at a higher RPM but I would think that the lighter weight should easily offset that. In a 1/4 mile it shouldn't even be a contest. On twisty roads it would probably be laughable.

Impalas run high 14s, they wouldn't have a chance. Think cop car with black (or dark red or dark bluish green) paint and wheels. and badges.

mine will atleast keep up with a new gto which has more power, a better tranny, and less weight. unless it's blown, or has nos, I wouldn't worry too much, unless you just roast through first, than maybe a little catch up.
