Any one running Amsoil tranny fuild in there T-5.

I'm getting the stang reading for the trip up to SC. I'm doing all the fluids over and ready for the trip and the tranny is due for a fluid change. I've been reasearching and researching and have become very intrested in Amsoil tranny fluid. ANy one using it in there t-5? How do you like it compared to traditional detron III ATF? Improved cold shifting, less tranny wine, etc, ect? I've been helped by an Amsoil distributar and his proffefional opinion is I could use the Amsoil MTF http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mtf.aspx but he said the Amsoils site recomends https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx. I did a search for Amsoil with Zero results found  :D
NOTE:Amsoil MTF is $7.05 each while the ATF is $8.20...

Cant help you Danny. I run Redline D4. It sounds like the same scenario though - back in the day IIRC, people used Redline MTL but then RL came out with D4 (for trannies using ATF).

I called Redline tech when getting ready to do mine - in my hot climate I wanted to see if I could use MTL. They were pretty against it and said to use D4. It seems to work fine.

The thing is you really want to be sure you are not going to starve the needle bearings in the trans.......... Honestly, I would try the ATF. Or if you really want to run something thicker, see if you can mix the ATF and light gear oil.

This is just my unsolicited two cents. Good luck man.

wytstang-

you mentioned the amsoil tranny fluid is supposed to help with the whine? i have a stock t5 (95 gt) with about 104k on the clock. i do have a steeda shifter but the whine from my t5 is horrible. car shifts smooth, never grinds, never pops out of gear. ive tried numerous fluids (not amsoil yet). oem stuff, penzoil syncromesh, etc. everytime the fluid has been changed tho, there is never any metal in the fluid.

if that amsoil would quieten it down, i would def try it

thanks

No I asked if they noticed any whine or less after using Amsoil meaning did they notice any change in sound that wasn't there prior to using Amsoil. I have the steeda shift and ALL aftermarket shifters give off a whine. On ebay they sell some thick gasket kit to help quite it down. Also the MGW short shifter is said to be quiter then most....

I've never used it (yet) but eveything I've read seems to say Amsoil is the best there is.
Amsoil and www.specialtyformulations.com have an awesome rep for being top notch fluids. They are not cheap but neither is rebuilding a tranny (as you know :p) or motor and rear end. I found this awesome fluid/filter forum where these guy put fluids/filters under the microscope. I'm talking labs test the whole nine yards.
