Hey whatsup guys. I finally decided to do something to my car.
The car is a 99 GT, and it came as I bought it with a K&N filter and Flowmaster Mufflers (No Idea what series). I finally got money to do the next thing I wanted, an offroad xpipe. I remember hearing on here from somebody that the Mustang tuning (true x) is great sounding with flowmasters. Is this true?
Also what hp #s will I be looking at as far as gain over stock with K&N, Flowmasters (These probally give next to nothing) and an offroad X?

Thanks :SNSign:

Typically, most X-pipes and Flows don't mix well.
Flowmasters and an H-pipe or Prochamber is a better choice IMO.
X-Pipes will sound raspy.
I used to have Flows and a Dr. Gas X Pipe and it sounded good, but rasped & droned like CRAZY!!!
Rule of thumb....
Chambered Mufflers + H-Pipe.

Yea But I remember from a previous conversation that that was the result of a non true x (aka BBK), I believe it was streetstang03 who said so (that might not be his name, the guy with the lime on a cat's head.

Also any indications on the HP gain (if any?)

I think the mustang-tuning x-pipe will sound good with the flows. My Bassani did and that was supposedly the clamshell crossover thats supposed to sound worse than a real x-pipe like MT, UPR, Dr.Gas, etc...

It was streetstang who has/had and loves it.

I had 2 chamber flows and the o/r mustangtuning x pipe for a bit. It does sound great! I just wanted a different sound, so I went with Spintechs soon thereafter.

However I have to add this- with an automatic, under mild acceleration around 2200rpms, this thing is loud as hell and makes a weird popping...it's hard to explain (not an exhaust leak...nothing like that).

So my conclusion- altho I love the sound and everybody else does too, I will be looking to buy an o/r h pipe sometime...im trying to get away from that 2200 sound.

Bassani is a straight-thru muffler, that's why they sounded good with the X.
Flowmasters are chambered.

well, it would put him above the 2200 rpm drone.

It definitely would...but I don't have a prob with the drone (i love it!!!) It's a whole different sound that only comes from mild acceleration with my automatic..ive noticed that it is when the torque converter is not completely grabbing (light acceleration)...it's really hard to explain...you would have to hear it to understand

I had a mac o/r h on my auto 04 GT w/2 chamber flowmasters, and I ended up pulling it off and throwing the stock h-pipe back for the same reason. Well, that and the drone at 2k. On the interstate, doing 70 mph, the car tachs right at 2,200 rpms, right in the heart of the drone. With the 2 chamber flows, that mac pipe was loud. It'd give you a headache riding for any length time in it.

I gotta get my hands on some mufflers that don't have any drone to them. Anybody have any suggestions?
