Ok, I am now on my second Mustang (traded my 2005 mineral gray in for a 2006 vista blue) and so far i've gone through jba's, flow masters, magnapacks and now the MACs...

First off I must say, I feared the drone would be overwhelming based on other folks complaints... Seems the drone was over-rated, it's not really that bad in my opinion... So far I think this may be the best exhaust of the ones i had before ( i did like the magna packs alot tho, but the MACs are deeper sounding) I can't wait to see what they sound like when broken in..

Anybody want a JBA axleback system :D ?

Anyways, the Macs get a thumbs up... :nice:
No I just gotta install my Katzkin leather kit... i'll post pics katzkins and video of the macs..

We install/sell the MAC axlebacks all the time....they have always installed easy and correctly and both sound and look great on the car, the 4" tips really fill out the cutouts nice.

Thats the first thing I did to my car were the MACs. Then I added a Bassani X pipe.....man you think it sounds good now, the x pipe will make you turn heads more than a few blocks down the street. And that is with the cats installed:nice:

A buddy of mine that lives 4 houses away from an intersection that is 7 houses down from my house called me today after I had left for work, asking if I had just pulled out of my driveway because he could hear me leaving:D

I've had the MACs on my 2005 GT about a month after I bought the car...

"KILLER SOUND" but may get the X-Pipe installed this spring because I'm supercharging too...

That's good to know. I have the Mac axleback on now, and the Bassani catted xpipe is in the box waiting for a sunny winter weekend day...

cool! glad i'm not the only one that thinks these things sound sweet... my installer (tuffy) hung one of the mufflers a little off to the left... can the way these mufflers install, can they be adjusted slightly?

They can be adjusted, thought I have yet to find a specific way to do it. Other than just loosening where the muffler attaches to the pipe, as well as the hangers on the frame and just start pushing and pulling until its where you want it. You may even try bending the hanger on the muffler itself, can't say I am a stranger to that either:)

Dear Lightning Joe,

From what I have read on these forums, the JBA axlebacks are slightly louder than stock and probably do not drone "as much" as other muffler set ups but the MACs are compared to the Big Block sound of the 60's and 70's...

In my opinion, the JBAs are whimpy compared to the "Killer" sound of the Macs...

You can talk to alot of guys out there and no one will ever tell you that the MACs are not the most dangerous sound around...

But, try your luck!!! Dave :nono:

Yea jba's are slightly louder than stock (in the car at least) outside the car they are a good amount louder than stock, but not as deep as macs...

also, the mufflers just sold on e-bay (sorry)...

I will post pics of the car with the rims and sound clip this weekend for sure.

anybody got a pic of the tips installed on the car?

I had MAC's on my old 5.0 and I LOVED them with an Xpipe. Just bought an Xpipe for the 06, so MAC's are one of the exhausts I'm looking at...

Here is a closeup

I Love the MAC's IMHO Best sounding exhaust for the 05/06.
The Drone is worse on an Automatic, little drone on a 5 spd.

I have a 2006 manual V6. I am going dual exhaust soon with a Bassani X-pipe. Do you think that the MACS would soud funny on my car? I have a JBA on there now, which gives a nice sporty sound, better than stock, but quiet inside the car. Another V6 had the MAC's and they droned so bad he couldn't have converstaions at 70 MPH. I wonder if it is because he has a 6 cyl. w/ AT? I am afraid that anthing other than the GT takeoffs or the JBAs will just sound wrong on my 4.0. Advice?

I have had my MAC's now for 4 months and they sound even better now, As for the Drone, I just got used to it, whats nice about the drone, it's louder outside the car, and it's sounds mean. I get thumbs up :nice: all the time

I think you will still have the drone on a 4.0 dual exhaust, it will have a deeper sound than other mufflers. On the 4.6L, I have read that by installing JBA Headers and Bassani X-pipe removes the drone. Overall, I think they will sound good on the 4.0L.

Dear BlackGT05,

The Macs are consideraby louder than stock mufflers...

And as previously written, they do drone at about 1500 - 2000 RPMs but the sound on exceleration is "killer" and you will be a happy pup with these mufflers...

Of course if you want whimpy sounding mufflers, try another brand..

Good Luck, Dave :lock:

I've ordered the macs just waiting for warm weather to install can't wait to hear them!!! It's good to hear that they are loud, thats what I want and I can put up with drone.
