Sorry to hear that! I hope you were not injured. So many people out there do not pay enough attention. Cell phones and other distractors cause alot of accidents. This may sound strange but, it is job security. I'm a firefighter/medic, if it were not for stupid people I would be unemployed. Are you going to get another Stang then? Anyway retro...sorry about your loss.

Man, those hurt! I was rearended extacly the same way... I was in a ranger and got hit by a Yukon! THe impact was so great that the bed bolts completely sheared off and the radio went out the back window.

I seriously hope you are OK. Any impact like that, well let's just say your are probably really sore right now.

:( hope you are ok. the car can be replaced. i hope you had GAP insurance to cover what the insurance company wont. can you post up some pics? keep the car and sell it yourself.....to me!

i find it amazing how many people just dont pay attention on the road. i see it everyday. too bad you couldnt bust them yourself sometimes. i have seen people do the dumbest stuff while driving, and no cops in sight. :nonono:

on the bright side, now you can get in line for a GT500!!

My god that must be horrible!!!
Hopefully you went to the hospital. Sometimes you don't feel the pain after a couple hours due to adrenaline and other factors but in a day or a couple days you will get stiff due to possible whiplash...
Well I stop there. Luckily, you are alive. The car can be replaced... Bless you and I hope you get a BIG FAT A$$ wreck check in the near future....

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. Girlfriend and I are fine. We were cautious, my dad still has neck problems from being rear ended over 30 years ago. But both of us are fine. Meeting tomorrow with the insurance people and to get an estimate of the damage. Damn unibody contsruction is gonna make it tough. So it may not be worth trying to fix. In the meantime I'm depressed and looking at wreckedexotics.com to try and make myself feel better. No digitals of the damage yet, only hard prints. See what happens tomorrow.

RIP

I do feel your pain. I was rearended in a '97 GT 'vert on the expressway by a hillbilly in a small dump truck full of sand, felt like getting hit by the fist of God. I was almost stopped, they estimated his speed at 60-65 MPH. He never even hit his brakes. Car destroyed-driver had fairly serious whiplash. Hope you are OK in the long run.

Damage estimate came in. $14,000. Thats just an initial estimate it could go up from there. Repairs would take around a month and a half. But gonna see what happens. I'm trying to claim diminished value, i'm gonna see if I shouldnt just trade it in for a 2006, and i'm gonna have to see how much the final estimate is. If it goes up anymore the car will be totalled. Lucky for me the design of the new mustang saved me. The other car road up and over the frame, apparently he missed it. Body shop manager said it worked just as they designed it. Of course they have to check the car out more closely, the whole thing could be twisted and he just couldnt tell from looking at it. We'll see what happens.

get them to total it now. when they do a teardown, it will add $$$$. what % are you at now? they usually total around 75% if you are close now, the insurance company might total it now. trust me, you would be better off if it was totalled and you got a new car. you probably will never be happy with that car again. when are the pics coming?
