Anybody using an external oil cooler? If so, I'd be interested in knowing who makes it, if you like it, and how you mounted it. Pics would be great. This is for a 350 hp 4.6L so nothing radical.

Thanks!

Let me get a good pic of mine and put her up. Came out of a Crown Vic from the salvage yard (I found a former police car for this one).

I've got a Flex-a-lite Transmission cooler. It's small amd have it's own fan.
P/N FLX-4190 at Summit Racing.

I think I'm going to go with this cooler from Earl's. It is a plate-type, compact, and I think the 4"x9"x2" thick core will be plenty for street use in this car. It's got to be at least as functional as the air/water type I removed from the engine. It also uses -10AN fittings which what I have on the rest of the oil system (remote filter).

I will be in the shop tomorrow (Sunday) and will get one up for you.

If you have one, put up a full size pic of that avatar. It is really cool.

I like that one too as it's pretty true to the Cobra style with the topside connections:

Sorry I could not get that angle without taking the entire grill section and the air dam for the radiator off the car................and that is a real pain!

Yes, wrong terminology on my part. Big pipes make for more VOLUME not speed. I guess that ANY cooling of the oil is a good thing, it just seems like a small cooler that is gonna have a lot of oil flowing through it compared to a larger cooler with smaller feed-lines would.
