I don't think this would be very cheap to make but here is my thoughts. You would need a carb hat like people run on blown applications ($100 just for the hat), and then run your plumbing like the cold air kits do. Not sure what kind of flow restriction you'll get with that though.

I've got an inexpensive solution for you (although not complete assembly instructions).

The '85 5.0 HO Mustangs had dual snorkel air cleaners that, with a K&N provide plenty of air for a decently built 289. If you plum the air cleaner ducting down underneath the front valance, you should be great. For some tips on the kind of snorkels you will want to scoop up the air, take a look at the March pullies ram air set up: http://www.marchperformance.com/pg29.html#93ramair

An area to watch out for is getting enough area in the scoop to bring in enough air while keeping it low profile enough to keep it from scraping on the ground and/or grabbing the super hot air right off the pavement.

You could also plum those snorkels into a dual open hood: http://www.mustangsplus.com/Merchan...duct_Code=Ram-Jet_Hood&Category_Code=fib_hood

Hope that helps.

i have a hei distributer and the large cap keeps me from using a gt air cleaner so i don't think any air cleaner of that size would work i don't want to use a small air cleaner i think it looks lame !!! I will check out those hats

my brother has the march ram air on his 88 gt and it scrapes sometimes but i dont think our cars sit as low as his does. my other brother made his own ram air for his 93 z28 and its pretty slick.

go to a junkyard and look for something off a TB,probably plastic.....then use this product and route your tubing.
