Done that....

My best work was putting the lower radiator hose on from under the car. Wiggling the hose on when I heard a wrench fall. I looked up like a dumb ass (heads up doesn't mean look up). Wrench hit my front tooth and broke it in half. Changing radiator hoses cost me $15 and $575 for the dentist. Expensive, embarrassing day.

LOL! Joe, you have no idea how many times I have told that story to people, normally I do it when I'm under the car so that it doesn't happen to me. When I read this thread that was the very first thought that popped into my head.

Ouch Matt, that looks like it doesn't feel good, be thankfull your face wasn't under the crank as well.

Matt I have done very similar

I have run my finger between the ps pump pulley and the belt. At first the shock was there and I checked to make sure it was still atached. Thank god it was in 1 piece and only cut. I had the rib marks in my finger for over a month.

You're lucky it didnt get broken! I hope whoever turned the motor over didnt realize your hand was there.

I had a pretty scary moment....a guy was helping me drop the 351 in the cradle...well it the mounts werent sitting straight on the k-member, so he was under the car trying to figure out what was going on. So he was pulling the motor over as i slowly let the motor down....his hand got caught between the bellhousing and the brace thats under there and was yelling like no other. Man i panicked trying to jack the hoist back up to lift the motor. I thought his hand was gonna be broken. It was swollen but still in one piece. I felt so bad...:(

what was the purpose of cranking the motor over while you had a ratchet on the crank? trying to get the balancer bolt out?

i cut the palm of my hand with a drill pretty good once while taking apart a motor at work. 8 hours later after work, i decided to go get stitches LOL. wasent that bad, only 10 stitches
