I know its the same HP as 05 but they must have reconfigured something!! Last year when I drove an 05 I turned the traction control off and punched it out from a stand still and it spun the tires a "little" then took off.Well I did the same thing today and it shifted into 2nd gear "still" spinning and starting to fish tail !! I had to let off because the salesman who was with me looked a little worried!! At only 26,000 Im seriously consiering getting one!! What a fun little car..Im thinking they adjusted the ecu because its a total different beast!!I

You drove an '05 last year and now you drove and '06? What are you, a serial test driver? I'll bet the salesmen love to see you coming in! LOL. I never even sat in a new Mustang until the day it came in and I drove it home.

Took my 06 to the strip last night. Only got to do two runs ( first for me in it) Did first without traction control. Spun and wheel hopped all thru 1st and 2nd. Bumped rev limiter in both. 14.98 @ 100. Next and last run was better with the traction control on, but still wheel hopped thru 1st. caught on in 2nd. 14.13 @ 101. NO mods whatsoever. Not even a K&N filter. 3500 miles on it. 60 ft was 2.20 on 2nd pass. Never got to drive an 05, the local dealer never had one with a manual trans till my 06 came in.

There is no difference between the two years performance wise, though when I bought my 02' GT I wanted one in mineral grey. The local dealer only had a red one so I took it for a test drive and it was gutless. I was very disappointed. But a few days later another dealer had a mineral grey GT and I took it for a drive and it drove like a bat out of hell. Supposedly the same car, both 2002 and brand new, but they drove completely different. I guess it's just how they are put together.

Has the PCM software been updated?
Could be that Ford updated it and improved the throttle lag.

Anyone here who works at Ford or is a dealer service tech that can find out if the PCM code has been updated?

I had a 2005 GT and just traded it in for a 2006 GT. I liked the new gray and 18" polished wheels. My 2005 seemed faster but it had almost 9,600 on it when I traded. I am hoping the new car breaks in like my 2005. I think it can also be the way they are built. I have seen stock Mustangs out run modified ones. Just a thought.
