Greetings!

I'm new here and love it already! I've spent a few minutes searching for info to diagnos my problem in hopes to find it without asking. No such luck : (... I even used some key search words. I thought what the heck, ill just ask :D

I'm curious to know what my idle speed should be? 2002 4.6L Also is there a place here on this site, or else where that I can get this type of info. Any info provided wiill be greatly appreciated

Best Regards

should be 750 (-ish, not an exact number). if you are having trouble it could be an IAC problem (idle air control). they go for about $50, +/- $10. Your TPS (throttle position sensor) could be off also. just a guess.

Wow!! An answer to my ? in less than 30 mins. This place Rocks!

Actually there isn't any problems with the Idle, its just how its reading!

I hate to admit it, but after adding some cool white faced gauges I didn't set the Tach needle in its original place. Assuming I had it correct the first time I tossed my drawing that had the correct position.

Guess I'll learn next time!

Thanks so much for the info..... It is very appreciated

What a neat feature. Certianly proved that my needles are not positioned correctly!

I am concerned though! While going through the read-outs I noticed that My Oil pressure was reading like this ---> OIL0000, while the rest read something, temp like this TEMPC089, Battery like this BATT0170 and fuel like this FUEL0171!

I'm only assuming this, but am I reading my oil pressure as 0. Shouldn't there have been some type of reading? Should I be worried that my gauge is not working, maybe the sending unit? Or worse......am I not getting any oil pressure at all?

Again, any info provided will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

IIRC, Oil is supposed to be 0? Your temp is around operating temperature, battery not sure, and fuel is your fuel level. 255 would be full. Read the site, they spell everything out for you.

The Oil pressure guage on the mustang is nonfunctional, it is a simple on/off device and does not read actual pressure. Aparently Ford thought a functioning oil pressure guage would lead to excess service calls as people panicked about a moving needle. So instead we get an idiot light in the form of a needle guage.

FUEL Displays the code (0-255) for the fuel sender input to the HEC. The fuel gauge will display a filtered fuel level value. This filter will keep the pointer from moving suddenly or erratically.
255 open send +/- 0
232 full stop +/- 0
215 Full mark +/- 10
178 3/4 mark +/- 8
138 1/2 mark +/- 7
93 1/4 mark +/- 5
41 E mark +/- 4
54 Low Fuel (0-59)
0-18 short (0-20 max)

dEGC Display of engine temperature in Degrees C input from cylinder head temperature sensor.
49 C "C" mark
60 C Normal band start
120 C Normal band end
-40 C No SCP message for 5 seconds

OIL Displays the code (0-250) for the oil pressure switch input to the HEC. Oil pressure gauge will indicate present oil pressure. Normal oil pressure (greater than 6psi) will display a value between 000 and 176. A low oil pressure or an inoperative engine oil pressure switch (less than 6 psi) will display a value greater than 176.

bAtt Displays the code (0-255) for the battery voltage input to the HEC. Battery voltage gauge will indicate present battery voltage. 93-102 6.2-9.1 volts, low voltage
115-124 8.5-10.7 volts, Normal band start
215-225 15.8-18 volts, Norm band end
230-241 16.9-19.1 volts, high voltage
