I just purchased a 92 notch with a 4 cyl. and i'm assuming it is a 2.3? So does anyone have any site to go to to look for aftermarket hop ups? Nothing crazy just like a cold air kit , maybe a header and full exhust and in the near future possibly a new engine? So what kind of compression can i expect out of it with 108,000 miles on it? How long are these engines good for milage wise? peace

Cold air kit you're better off making custom as they don't specifically make one for 2.3's. You can get a long tube header from the above website for about $200 or go to EBAY or the local junkyard to find a short tube header off of a Ford Ranger (not sure which years, someone will chime in). As far as the midpipe for the exhaust, you'll need to custom make it for the same reason as the CAI but you can get any muffler/tailpipe combination from or for a 5.0.
If you're serious about a new engine, don't bother with the exhaust because you'll have to scrap it with a new engine. Stick around here and I'm sure you'll decide what you want to do with it.
Welcome to the dark side.

if you are not going to do a 2.3T swap, you are stuck with a car and good gas mileage. I think you will enjoy your new 2.3L. The Lima has a great reputation and can be the strongest package that has ever been placed inside a Mustang. Do not get me wrong, the 2.3L N/A will not be the powerhouse that other stangs are but it will keep on going like the enegizer bunny. I just had a bad front end collision and the car is driveable, the engine bay is still solid and with some love, I will have her back on the road soon.

I am currently looking for a 5.0 but the 2.3 will never be too far from my mind.

Thanks guy's i'll have to check out that link. I'm not to worried about making mass power or anything cause i still have my 95 gt (5.0), i just want to add a little umph to it! peace

Be carefull my friend, I was a die hard v8 guy my whole life thae I got a 4cyl vert, learned alittle about the 2.3t and was hooked before i ever drove one. now I have a thunder bird turbo coupe and am looking for another. boost is adictive, and having a hotrod that gets 30mpg just fuels the hunger.

Yeah but my 95 stang is bottle fed :nice: and besides there's nothing like that v8 rumble. And thats why i bought the 4 cyl for my daily driver and fuel aconomy. I have been thinking of a turbo bird conversion but not shure and if so it will be a while. I also have a 80 notch that when done should run mid to low 10's on the bottle as well! My plans as of right now for the notch is wheels so i can ditch the 10 holes tinted windows and lower it, oh yeah a radio. No i live in the state of washington kidd. peace

Yes the 2.3 seems to be addictive. I bought one car, and now have 2, a spare engine, and sights on one more. Love my 10 holes, Turbines, but Draglites absolutely rule! Yes, I also have a bottle fed 5.0 as a toy.

or you could just get a V8 and turbo it. That would be even better. The engine and turbo I am thinking of throwing into my 4 cyl is the 351w and a t76 turbo. :) Should do some good stuff.

hey..glowstang is also my boy...umm yeah i kno where u can get header, and superchip.. umm there no air intake u have to make 1 i jus have a k/n air filter...dont try a 87-90 efi air intake it wont work bc the mass air flow sensor i tryed.. yeah reply bak if u want the sites i also have cat bak new pipes and a 40 series muffler sound mellow but with the header makes it sound like a six cyclinder...later

the problems with that is cost, gas, and tech difficulty. I know people that build race cars for a living, and its not easy to make a turbo car from scratch for cheep. I got my turbo car for about $1500 worth of a traid. a turbo 2.3l gets around 30mpg most boosted v8s I know get around 8-10mpg. The tech problem is most people dont have the know how or tooling to cut and weld there own tubing, make there own headers or tune a custom turbo set up. so for most its a smarter investment to use what ford made(2.3t) than build a turbo v8. Now realize I am talking street cars, if you want a full out drag car the 8 is the way to go.

as to how many miles are the engines good for, with comppletly beating the crap out of them you will make 170,000 plus, currently my dad has 60 thousandths off of the head and 200,000 plus miles, now it smokes a bit, but still goes quite well. The 170,000 was before the head cracked. So ya it can take a fair amount of use and abuse.
