I'm going to be deleting my ac/smog as soon as i get my o/r h pipe in. Here is my question: I see smog pump eliminator pulleys for sale all the time, is it wisest to get a free spinning pulley, or just get a shorter belt? With the ac/smog removed, is it hard to get a belt in the right pattern, and is this the reason why people offer a smog eliminator pulley? Or is the smog eliminator pulley just a useless accessory. Thanks.

Well, you figure a new belt is around 30 bucks at THE ZONE!!! and I don't know how much a delete pulley is but I'm guessing its more than that. It's very easy to find a belt that fits, just search these threads, I know there's been a billion of them. Plus, if you take the pumps off you have a nice weight reduction to work in. Just keep them around for resale purposes. Just my 2 sense.

I say that the eliminator pullys are a needless accessory unless you have a blower or something where you would absolutely have to have the belt in a certain configuration. Just get a shorter belt if your just removing the smog pump and you will be fine. If your doing A/C as well, use the FMS delete kit that moves the P/S pump up where the A/C was and you wont need a delete pully there either. The kit costs the same as the pully anyway and makes for a cleaner installation.

Looks like this....

I think the pulley is ugly and unneeded. Also it looks a lot cleaner with no pump and a short belt. I just removed my a/c components and am
getting the fms kit. Well maybe, i might just go to manual steering.

I deleted the smog pump and A/C. For the smog pump I simply deleted it with no pulley. The reason they sell the pulley is so people can keep their stock belt. You can't, however just delete the AC/Pulley because something needs to be their up in it's place for the belt to route properly. So I purchased a UPR A/C elminator pulley looks cool. Many just get the FMS A/C eliminator as well which moves the pump up like the pic above. I did'nt like that because it put that big ass P/S pump in clear view and it's too big and bulky, I did not like the look.

My belt size was 83.5" with under drive pulleys.

i hate the idler pullies, useless and takes up space, i'd rather have the P/S moved up. I am going to delete my smog and move the P/S up when i do my motor swap. should look much cleaner, without the big fat black ac line and the little one in front.
