Megasquirt

Please let us know how it goes, a friend of a friend tried this and was unable to get it to work.
I moved as project was still in process but I am pretty sure they gave up on megasquirt.
I am looking for a tunner and would be interested in this as an option.

OK Guys

I went to their site the other night and read

and read

and read

:rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Gimme a Break :D

Will someone who has a handle on this thing PLEASE bottom line it for us?

I would like to see an apples to apples comparison between it and Tweecer.

How much does it cost? ... all put together ... NO soldering please!

Will it data log?

Do you have access to pretty much all parameters in the pcm like the Tweecer?

I'm looking for what a complete package entails.

Looks to me you need a laptop, wb, and ...... what else?

I think this could be an interesting discussion. :D

I have done some more research on this and this is what i have gotten.

Price list Unassembled
MS230-K $250
MSStim-K $40

38NPT-Bung_S $8 Bung for mounting IAT sensor (steel weld on, or JB-Weld on)
TuneCable $6.50
USB-2920 $22 (Only needed if you laptop doesn’t have a true DB9 port)
Subtotal without wideband-- $415.50

Wideband Options—
LC-1 without gauge $199 (you can still view real-time AFR and datalog AFR through your laptop)
LC-1 with analog gauge $258
LC-1 with XD-1 digital gauge $399
LM-1 with built-in LCD Readout $349 (good for tuning multiple cars, temp installation)

Price List Assembled
MS230-C $410
MSStim-C $75
MSHarness $68
IATwPiggy $21 IAT Sensor
38NPT-Bung_S $8 Bung for mounting IAT sensor (steel weld on, or JB-Weld on)
TuneCable $6.50
USB-2920 $22 (Only needed if you laptop doesn’t have a true DB9 port)
Subtotal without wideband-- $610.50

Wideband Options—
LC-1 without gauge $199 (you can still view real-time AFR and datalog AFR through your laptop)
LC-1 with analog gauge $258
LC-1 with XD-1 digital gauge $399

I got all this info from Jerry from http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/. His name on Corral is foundsoul. He has been very helpful. It can datalog when your laptop is connected. There is a lot of info that i have found on it but it is very confusing, especially to someone like me with no tuning experience. I would also like to see a comparison with Tweecer, from someone who has used both.

OK

The above looks like the equivalent of the Tweecer RT which will data log.

Looks like this is the basic stuff needed to output the wb to the Megasquirt input and have af ratio data captured in the Megasquirt data log.

LC-1 with analog gauge $258
LC-1 with XD-1 digital gauge $399
LM-1 with built-in LCD Readout $349 (good for tuning multiple cars, temp installation)

The above is not needed fluff?

I wonder if you can use wide bands other than the above?

Sooooooo, about $600 bux for the basic unit with dlog abilities

AND

Still need

Laptop
Wide Band

Looks to be about the same price as the Tweecer

Am I getting the big picture here

What do you other guys think :SNSign:

I will be doing this in the very near future.

I have a bit of a guru on my side that has done several MS applications with my other car (Ford Probe GT.)

We plan on doing a coil pack setup, and use the Megsquirt and Spark type package.

I will be posting all my details if I every get started. I hope to get the ball rolling once it gets a little warmer around here.

Only thread I could find on MS so I'm going to bump it. Curious if anyone has any updates?

Also mricci you had a great parts list but this new board may peak interest around here. :D Because from what I can tell this will bring the price list down a good bit and make install easier.

Anyhow, It is a adapter board for the stock ECU, and it is pretty cheap too. This will allow the MS to run without needing to do as much wiring, extra sensors etc. :nice:

Subscribing - I'm in the middle of helping a friend tune a MAP-based import car that we rebuilt and put a turbo on - love the MAP based tuning for boosted applications.

Read a bit on megasquirt last week - looks like knowing how to program is very helpful. :)

ahh, megasquirt. My uncle is currently running this on his 28 model a. I have made a few passes in the car and was very impressed with the software. Very user friendly. He has a bored and stroked 460. He took 3.5 lbs of materal out of the heads and flow benched them. The car also has a roots blower. Pretty scary fast, and very effective. It's over 1000hp rigth now and about 1500 lbs.

here is some food for thought as he is always trying to get me to go in this direction. I think you guys will like this one, maybe the fox guys more.

How to MegaSquirt your Ford Mustang 5.0

:SNSign:

Since I last posted I am now heavily into tuning.

After working with MegaSquirt and aftermarket standalones (BS3, FAST, etc) I would rather pay the cash up front for a solid solution and not tinker with the MegaSquirt.

Making a comparison to a twEECer is apples and oranges. Factory PCM vs Standalone are two different ballparks and priceranges.
