There is a guy named "rcsperformanceparts" selling a blank Saleen engine plaque on ebay. How the hell did he get this thing?

He even goes as far as saying: "Buy it, and make it unique to your car buy stamping or engraving your vehicles specific information into it; Exactly like the real thing."

The sale guy sold me a "perfect" wheel that was BENT! Secondly, the other wheel he sent me was shipped in a box with NO PROTECTION! NONE.

We did not have a nice convesation. I donated the bent wheel...for a nice coffee table stand post restoration.

Multiple phone messages. He eventually said he pays some guy to pack his items. I explained that whatever he paid him....was way too much. He did not seem to be concerned.

What a butthead.

The Saleen Engine Plaque RCPerformance is selling is an Authentic Saleen Plaque! You asked how he got his hands on this plaque, well a while back he bought them at a Saleen side walk sale and it was among inventory he had bought! Saleen didn't know the Engine bay plaques were packed in with the items he purchased! You don't want to know how many of these he has! Dennis, This is the guy I introduced Robert too and Robert was in Saleen Heaven when he saw 1/20th of the Original Inventory I saw over a year and a half ago! Dennis this is the contact you were asking me for! This guy has more Saleen parts then Saleen! It sounds like a few of you guys had some issues with him, sorry to hear that! Well I'm here to tell you from personal experience when dealing with him in person and checking merchandise that everything I've gotten from him has been 100% Awesome! 2 18X10 99-04 Saleen Wheels and an Authentic Saleen S7 wheel, Thats right I said Saleen S7 wheel impossible to get even from Saleen! I'm sure Robert will pipe in on this thread! The inventory my wife and I saw way back when was Jaw dropping and I was in Saleen heaven!:jaw:

This same company has a few Saleen items currently on eBay, including a complete set of authentic 18" chrome wheels. They are located in Chula Vista which is down the road from me in the South Bay area of San Diego.
Their eBay auctions state that anyone local who wins the bid can pick up the parts directly from them.
I was considering stopping into their place to check 'em out.

Was the bent wheel a 18x10 magnesium? If so he sent me the same rim and I sent it back. He was an ass to deal with.

Dan and Scott,
Sorry you guys had such a negative experience with Rick. When I rode along with Todd down to San Diego to meet him, he seemed like a very nice individual that would be easy to work with. He is a very valuable contact as he has MORE Saleen parts then you can even imagen. From what I saw in his stereo shop alone, along with Todd's description of his two garages, he has enough stuff that would make ANY Saleen enthusiast *hit a brick. And we didn't even go to his warehouse.

I did call Emploee X that night on the way back and he confirmed who Rick is. Rick's been buying Saleen parts from Saleen since the mid 90's when they use to have there side walk sales. He would just go buy everything that Saleen was selling that day. Now he gets overstocked inventory from them:scratch: Yeah, I know your thinking, overstock??? They never have anything in stock!!! Maybe since the parts department is currently *ucked up, they just sell everything to him:shrug: Who knows.

If you when a bid, he will work with you in picking up the item. Not sure if he will give you a grand tour of the warehouse, as Todd and I asked numerous times and he very nicely said No. But it never hurts to ask :nice:

Sounds like he's importing custom order goods with the Saleen name to me... I'm just a guy from Minnesota, but we all know how hard it is to get this stuff. All it takes is one original piece, and you can duplicate ANYTHING from over seas... Besides, why would he all the sudden pop up in this forum after 10+ years of collecting original parts?

Your right in the fact that importing custom goods isn't difficult to do with trademark laws being non-existing over seas however,
I guess I wasn't very clear and informative with my last post........
1). The same night Todd and I picked up his S7 wheel from Rick, I called Employe X (the same Employee X that has worked for Saleen Inc for 9 years) to verify who Rick was
2). Rick showed Todd and myself an original invoice from Saleen Inc for parts purchased in bulk
3). Getting Saleen parts isn't that difficult rather expensive. If I want to go buy a complete bodykit for an 85 Saleen, I only need to make one phone call and have a *hit load of money to do it with. Stu Akers in Indiana, who owns the 1st 3 Saleens built and 11 total has enough parts to build 3 complete 1985 Saleens...... Not impossible to find, just very expensive
4). Its' not like he just "poped up" in this forum, another member found his stuff for sale on ebay and asked if anyone knew what this guys deal was. Both Todd and I saw part of his inventory and let everyone know
5). This guys actually brillant. Have you seen what Shelby NOS or original parts are going for???? How about an orignial 1965 steering wheel for $4200!! Can you imagen what Saleen parts MIGHT be worth in the future?? Wish I had thousands of dollars to stock pile parts for the future, I could be worth millions :D

If he's legit, that's great! I don't know the guy from anyone else... anyway. He will likely be the guy with the only .02 bushing in 15 years and charge us 300 for it... more power to him I guess. Anyway, I would love to find a Saleen sign that lights up like some dealers have for my bar!!!

I had the same feelings you did when I first heard about it. My thoughts were all his merchandise was HOT or he was violating the trademark laws and making them out of his garage :D Once I confirmed it and saw the invoice, I was in Saleen heaven. Among the many things he had was a complete XP8 bodykit including the hood and wing. That wasn't for sale as I said I would take out a second mortage for that thing :p

There is a guy locally that had one for sale, can't remember the price as my girlfriend found it, but there was some damage to it. Not sure if you would be interested in it. Let me know and I can found out if it is still available and how much the guy wants for it......

For the record, Robert is 110% correct.

There is another "fellow" in So Cal that has lots of 87-93 stuff that I would consider beg, borrowing, or stealing for this stuff.

This is all true since guys still find "barn finds" often.

I have been buying parts from "Saleen sidewalk sales" since 1991. On the record I have bought stuff before boxed and made small discoveries inside just like this plaque. I have also returned such items directly to Liz shortly after the discoveries. People remember things like this and I have been rewarded the same.

Only if you live within driving range of Saleen can you actually get what you want when you want it.

I can also tell you that Saleen almost always has stock in parts that show out of stock. They just don't know what they have themselves most of the time. As Robert has stated, we hope the 50th time around they get the parts department together and straight. We have been praying for years upon years for this to happen.:D

Leave it to Robert & Marcus to know the inside poop on RC Performance, so now I won't embarrass myself any further by paying them a casual visit to check out their inventory. :owned:

Although I'd still be interested in finding out if they have a NOS set of 18" aluminum Speedlines for my Cobra... :hail2:

He might have the speedlines??? I know for a fact he has the remanufactored Le Mans wheels that Saleen made in 99/00 for our 94-98 bodystyle. Those are the same wheels that Marcus had on his coupe at the Saleen show last September. I saw two "stacks" to the ceiling of them. The easiest way to find out is to simply ask. Email him and make an offer on what you might think they are worth. He might say No, however if he needs some easy cash for the day, you might get lucky.... Good luck and let us know how it goes :nice:
