Okay guys, lil help here please... I have the vice grips and a demented look:mad: as I head toward the headlight switch..... I did a search and found hints about headlight switch removal instructions -- but not the actual instructions. Could someone please point me in the right direction?:bang: Thanx, Mike.

Anybody have coupe outside window trim? Or pics of? I swapped out my Ghia windows for coupe and realize that I am missing trim....but I am not sure what. Mike

The pushbutton only removes the electrical socket.
To remove the whole switch, you have to remove the face plate.
There are screws holding the bracket for the switch.
I just now looked at the instrument panel in my basement.
I didn't know either !

PUT DOWN THE VICE GRIPS AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR! :D

The button actually releases the switch handle...which is a must if you want to remove the dash or the actual switch.

If I remember correctly the button is on the left side of the switch. Press it in and pull out on the handle. Mine actually requires a second push to get the handle all the way out (may be due to wear though).

You may have to put the handle back in to turn the switch back off, but it won't latch until its all the way back in.

(Whew...I had to edit that thing 3 times to clean it up. :nono: )

Thank you for all of the advice, the switch is out -- and the vice grips are away. I am in the process of removing the entire dash, are there many more suprises for me? Thanks again, Mike

Anybody want my old Ghia windows before ebay?

My head lights wouldn't turn on a while back. It wasn't the light switch but the dimmer on the floor board that was out. Just an alternative if the new light switch doesn't solve your problem.

I didn't try that. First chance I get (tonight) I am.

I did a write up on this.... Theres an easier way so you wont cut the blood supply to your arm! Take the heat, A/C control out and put your arm up through there. MUCH Easier to get to this way! And yes, I need to push the button a 2nd time to get it out and lightly press it back in to turn lights off.

removing the knob from head light switch

this will take me about one minite to remove reach under the dash where the switch is and feel around on the driver side of the switch there is a pin to push in. pull the light switch at the same time you will feel it release you may need to pull and push the switch a few times till it releases... good luck

I had this happen before when my light quite working I thought it was the switch but it was in between fuse box and the wiring horness had a burn wire
