Anyone here with a Mach 460 sound system in their Mustang may be familiar with a very irratating "buzzing" sound that comes and goes. Well im just wondering if anyone might know why it does this and also when mine does it, if i cut the power to my deck and kick the inside of my door..It goes away about 70% of the time. Also another interesting finding i have been noticing...If i am listening to my stereo and press the button to roll my window's up or down, the sound will start as soon as i press the button..Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks..

Sounds like a ground issue to me, though I dont have a Mach 460 system. I would clean and/or beef up the existing grounds, esp for the amps.

Good luck.

I had a really bad problem with that. it was comming from 1 specific speaker. Well i changed the speaker and it still did it. I have an aftermarked CD player so my next idea was it could be the amplifiers, so I just got a regular Mustang wiring harness w/o the mach 460 and bypassed it. In your dash if you look in the back you will see the 2 rectangular black and grey plugins, just detach them and plug in the regular wiring harness. It fixed it for me and i really dont notice much of a difference in sound quality.

i had a horrible problem with my 460 when i bought it. it made a buzzing sound so loud i wastn able to listen to my radio at all. ver very loud and couldnt hear anything from the radio. finally found the problem. took off the kick panel on the drivers side and moved the wires apart from each other. sound went away after that. might be your problem as well. mine would do the same thing if i hit the kick panel. it only took about 5 min to move the wires apart.

I'm pretty sure the ground for the stereo is under the driver's side kick panel. Take a look there, and also check your battery and engine grounds while you're at it. It's almost certainly a ground issue if you haven't made any electrical system changes, but you picked up this interference.

Agree with StangGT1995. There's a two-pin connector under the driver side kick panel that has the ground for the rear Mach 460 speakers. The connector is pretty crappy and can jiggle loose pretty easily. This would cause the buzzing or hum that you are hearing. I cut the wires on both sides and replaced the connector with a butt connector. I need to redo because it still gets loose every now and again (I musta not attached the connector very well) but this pretty much solved my problem.

I have the exact same problem, if i kick the door the buzz goes away. I also noticed reving the motor the buzz goes to a higher pitch. I seem to think it is picking up interfearance with the fuel pump.
