WOW...

I just installed a Maximum Motorsports Clutch quadrant, cable adjuster and pedal height adjuster...OMG what an improvement :nice:

the clutch pedal is now down where it should be and more importantly the throw required to disengage the clutch has been cut in half (at least) shifting now involves moving my toe and ankle, not bending my knee up to my chin (well to the back of the steering wheel anyway)...it feel much more like my friends BMW M3 than any Mustang I've driven...

anyway  to Maximum Motorsports, they rock :flag:

Hey, mransr, does your clutch pedal rattle or feel loose in anyway when your foot is not on it? i ask because I have a upr quadrant and firewall adjuster, and the damn clutch pedal rattles because there is no longer a spring holding it back. I'm thinking if the MM pedal height adjuster might keep it in place and quiet it down...

driving around today I didn't notice any more vibration on the clutch pedal than before I installed the new stuff... maybe I'll notice more after I live with it for a while...

I do notice the throw out bearing in much, MUCH quieter now...

cable is set to loose. the spring on the stock quad has to do with the auto adjuster not vibration.

the cable needs to be tight. no slack. if it's not tight you will get a vibration from the throwout bearing making on and off contact with the pressure plate. it should make slight constant contact.

but do not adjust it so tight that the clutch is staying part engaged.

How would I adjust the cable if I don't have an adjustable one? If you mean to adjust it with the firewall adjuster, I've done that, it's just that the clutch engagement point is too high, that's why I wanted the firewall adjuster, to set the engagement to my liking. :bang: If any of you has dealt and solved this before, please enlighten me!:D

EDIT EDIT EDIT

i did not see that you also bought the pedal height adjuster. you need to play around with the adjustments.. READ NEW POST BELOW

problem is when you lower the engagement point you are loosening the cable. thats whats lowering the engagement point. now this make 2 problems for you.

1. vibration from inconsistent TOB to pressure plate contact.

2. while it may seem nice not to lift your foot as high. have fun power shifting. you will not have have the clutch completely disengaged

if i was you i would readjust it so the vibration stops. the aftermarket quads have nothing to do with adjusting the overall pedal height. what it does allow is adjustment of how high up on the pedal the clutch starts to engage. this is done by loosening the cable or tightening the cable.

BUT if it is to loose. you will have the vibration problems and you will not be fully disengaging the clutch, so when you try and upshift at high rpms you may get grinding noises from the trans.

if it's too tight then you will wear the clutch out fast because this is like driving around with your foot on the clutch.

ok first thing you need to do is get the pedal where you want it to be at the "at rest" pos.

then you need to attach the cable loose and adjust with the firewall adjuster until all the slack has been taken out of the cable. play around with the cable adjustment until you stop getting the vibrating pedal. now test the clutch.

you want the engagement point to be in the top half of the total clutch travel. this allows for sufficient air gap between the clutch disc and pressure plate/ flywheel so you don't grind the gears on high rpm upshifts.

if the clutch is to high for your taste. start over using the pedal height adjuster NOT the cable adjuster to lower the overall pedal height.

Ooopsss!! Nope, I still don't have the pedal height adjuster, sorry for the misunderstanding...I wanted to know if it adjusts the pedal so that it doesn't rattle like it does now, that I don't have it. Everything I said was without the pedal height adjuster... but thanks for the help anyway!!!
