Should I do a clutch while in for the tsb?

Helloi everyone,

My 2003 5-speed is going in Tuesday for the tsb on the synchros and gears. I have 24,000 miles on it with no mods. I really don't plan on doing much in the near future because of college kid budget restrctions. Would you suggest I look into replacing the factory clutch while they ar ein there? How long have you guys gotten on your stock clutch? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Also, while I have you. I am thinking of going with a magnaflow catback just to get more noise. What have you guys been paying for them new? I know that the advertised prices aren't really what you pay. Thanks again.

I replaced mine while they were doing the TSB, and it made a huge difference over stock. I have a bit more power than stock though as well.

When it's our, have them look at it. If they see any sort of abnormal or even a decent amount of wear, I would do it while it is out.

I just had the TSB done this week and had the clutch replaced with a Mcleod stage 2 kit. I have 18 000 miles on my car. The stocker looked perfect (yes you can drive a car hard and be easy on a clutch lol) but I really wanted a better performing clutch kit in there. If your really easy on the car and the stocker checks out ok you can leave it in.

What I think you SHOULD have replaced though is the throw out bearing. That could start squeeking at ANY time so your better off having a new one in there.

I can't comment on the TSB yet, haven't driven it much yet.

Well I can tell you that there are two new shift forks that are larger than the orignal stock ones along with diffrent syncros and gears. Hope your tech knows what he's doing.

Driving it home, it felt pretty good and they mention in the TSB that it will get even smoother after about 500 miles. My car won't be out till April now but I'll be sure to give a full review . There should be a few opinions on this board actually.

Sorry to waste your time, but a guy I used to work with has the same name. If all you have to pay for is the parts, no extra labor, then I would put one in. I recommend centerforce, they are the best in my opinion. If you dont have to pay extra labor, then you may be able to save about $300 bucks. But then again, it depends on what you have planned to do with the car and how you drive. The stocker could last a long time.

No problem, your not wasting my time. I might have had a cousin that worked their, but I don't know. I was thinking about upgrading, but I don't have anything planned for the car in the future, except maybe the purchase of a new mustang gt in a few years.

I had the TSB done as I had slight grinding going into 2nd, and at times would barely go into third. I have about 1100 miles on it since, and it seems to have fixed those issues, but it still feels "notchy". I am going to try changing my Saleen/Hurst shifter to an MGW next to see if that helps.

I had the TSB done on mine last summer about 8k miles ago.

My comments on it, I would say so far it's great, nice and smooth. The first few hundered miles were a bit tight though.
Also if like me you changed back to your stock shifter before the car went in for TSB then when you get it back you will notice it's a bit rough from 2nd to 3rd but once I put the Tri-Ax back on probelm when away.
