There is an "Aux" button on all stereo systems, and the Owner's manual simply states: Aux: If no auxiliary sources are available, NO AUX AUDIO will be displayed. - and nothing else. Does anyone know how to connect to the auxiliary input? Is there a user-accessible input anywhere? I've looked around the interior & can't find one.

Thanks.

Let me preface this by saying that I do not own an 05 (waiting for the vert), however after looking at the pics of the 05 system I can tell you that Ford has made it more difficult to remove this head unit than previous stangs (check out my Mach stereo swap link in my sig below). Chances are that if the head unit has an aux input you would need to find out how to remove the head unit to determine what type of connection is required. I doubt it would be a connection to the amps, if the deck has an Aux button then there must be a hardwire connection on the back of the deck.

I bought my Shaker 1000 on eBay for $310 and installed myself... catch to it is you still only have the regular speaker set up. As far as aux in's I did not see any "regular" inputs, there are empty (no wires in them) holes in the factory connectors. Some of these may be for in's. If you want to take the stereo out Here's some simple directions:
1. Open center console and take the two screws out at the back.
2.Take trim off around shifter(this just pulls off).
3.Pull e-brake up.
4.Lift console starting where you took the screws out. Whole top all the way to the dash will come out. Set it aside.
5.The two side panels are next. Just reach down where the panel reaches the carpet and pull toward you, they will simply snap out.
6.Unscrew the six screws that hold the main cover on.
7.Pull the main cover out and unplug the wires to the a/c controls and airbag light and 12v outlet and remove cover.
8.Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the radio in and pull radio out, reach behind and unplug connectors.
9.You are done.

I found out from a friend at a stereo shop that it is the plug closest to the antenna jack. Still don't know how to acquire the plug since was not included by factory since there was nothing to input. Hope this helps.

It is probably for a CD Changer. Almost all Satellite hard wired units attach to this aux input. Trying to find the cable so soon for a new car is the problem.

sheesh - search the fora. This is the single biggest repeated question/topic. Short and to the point. It is a plug that is currently empty. No there are no counterparts to this plug available on the market. Yes supposedly schoche and metra are working on it. No you can't do ANYTHING about it until they release them.

I was told there is nothing that will work with it. The aux is used for overhead DVD players in other Fords. I installed Sirius satellite and had to use an fm modulator.

I bought this myself and am completely satisfied. It has RCA jacks to plug in anything you want to. I bought the optional Ipod interface and it basically sounds like you're listening to a cd.

I second this. I installed this same P.I.E. interface and it works perfectly and sounds 100% better than any FM modulator.

The head-unit is not hard to get to either. Loosen two screws at the back of the center console and pull it up and back. The two inner kick panels will then slide toward the back of the car and come out. Then just remove the screws holding in the head-unit and slide it out. Not bad at all. Took me about 30 minutes to install this.

How the hell do you unplug the air control wire plug? It has some sort of gray lever attached to it that does nothing but hold it in. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get that unplugged.

So I have a V6 hardtop. On the bag of the blanks across the top of the center console above stereo (Opposite emergency flasher button, etc.) there are wires and a plug plugged into the back of one of the blanks doing nothing. Anyone have an idea what feature this is for that I obviously don't have?

That's for the info center and My Color feature.
