I just bought a 00 GT and it was sold at a relatively cheap price. When I did my walkaround, there was this inconsistent buzz noise from the front end of the car. The sound was never constant. It would start buzzing and then stop. I took a test drive for over 30 mins. The stang had no hiccups or anything. The ride was smooth like silk. There was nothing wrong with the engine and the transmission shifted smoothly as well. So what could the noise be coming from? The buzz noise was only apparent when I the car was at idle... So what could it be. Some help or suggestions will be much appreicated! =D

A Mechanical Noise (Buzz, Growl, Scraping, Zip) May be heard on drive away after initial start-up.
Some 1992-2002 vehicles equipped with anti-lock brakes may exhibit a mechanical noise (Buzz/Growl) on drive away after initial start-up. Each time the vehicle is driven. As vehicle speed reaches approximately 11-32 KM/H (7-20 MPH). The anti-lock brake control module turns on the pump motor and valves for approximately one half second. At this time a mechanical noise (Buzz, Growl, Scraping, Zip) maybe heard. This is a normal function of the self-check by the anti-lock brake control module for additional information refer to workshop manual section 206-09.

the sound is more like a high pitched snake hissing.. and its intermittent... the sound is coming from around the belts area and it seems to me the sounds is coming from the movements of the belts. But I am not sure at all... So any more suggestions?

Idler pullies could be failing. Remove the belt and inspect them. New idler pullies are $14 at AutoZone and are incredibly easy to install. If you are getting belt squeal might want to install a Gator belt as well.

Mine makes that hissing sort of noise all the time when idling, but it's not an inconsistent thing like you described, it's more like a constant sort of sound like that.
