Arrrgghh!! Stone hit the windshield!

I can't believe it I was traveling on I-75 going home from work doing my normal 80 mph and a frickin rock hit the far right side of my windshield it sounded like a bullet or something. Anyways, I didn't think too much about it at the time as I didn't see anything. This morning there was a frickin 6" crack near the passenger side post with a nice pock mark about 1/2" in size!

My insurance doesn't cover windshields so I have to find out what it is going to cost to replace. Anybody have any ideas? I am almost afraid to call the glass places as I know it is going to be a steep hit in the wallet since these cars are so new.

I will probably wait until winter is over to replace it since these things always seem to happen during this time and don't want to take a chance on it happening again and in a couple of weeks I will be working from home anyways so I won't have to do the daily commute anymore and my pride and joy can stay in the stable more times than not. :bang:

Crap!!! That just friggin sucks man! I hate it when that happens. Last time that happened to me I had to shell out 180 for a new one.

I feel for ya. About a month ago I was trying to merge onto I495 form I66 and just as I looked to the right to check the lane I was merging into somebody ahead of me slammed on their brakes bringing all the cars to a stop just in time for me to see when I looked back. Needless to say my poor car ended up in the shop, not a lot of damage just expensive to fix. THEN, about a week ago a stupid little deer jumped out in from of my Stang, it was hiding in some bushes, and did three grand worth of damage to it. I hate deer. Now I'm afraid to drive the car anywhere so I'm looking into getting a cheap piece of crap that I don't mind if it gets damaged to drive for the commute to work and just use my Stang on the weekends and vacations. Talk about bad luck. Mines the worst.

Estimate to replace windshield

I got an estimate today on how much it will cost to replace. The guy who gave me the estimate said normally they run about $400, but they are running a winter special and it would be $270 out the door. Sounds pretty good, but I am going to get a few more estimates.

Now that I don't have to commute to work taking the freeway anymore and plan on letting her sit out much of what's left of the winter I will probably get it fixed pretty soon.

I feel ya pain I have two pock marks right in my line of sight, and a couple on the ight side. I would get a new windshield, but it would just happen again. Only advice is to stay out from behind other cars.

I got lucky the last time I took a rock. It hadn't spread so I was able to get it patched. You can barely see where it was and it hasn't spread since. My insurance covered that. It's been my experience that even if the insurance company did cover a full replacement, you still end up paying for it since your deductible is probably $250+. Good luck finding a nice price.
