Crazy 67 fastback prices

Resto-modding was alive and well before the Gone in 60 Seconds movie came out.

Sure it was...just the people already in the hobby really knew about it. This brought quite a few new people into the hobby.

It also made a lot of us come back. It was 14 years between classic Mustangs for me. That movie was not nearly all of what made me come back, but it helped my family get excited for me to get another FB.

I'm lucky , I bought my 67 scode gt with 87,000 miles 6 years ago for 3k. It had been sitting in a garage for 20 years. My freinds thought I was crazy. The only problem I have had is, the prices increase the more I want to spend fixing it up.

Huh . . . never noticed that. I'll have to go out and compare them some time.

EDIT: I just went out & looked and you're right, the edge of the scoop is a lot steeper on the 67 quarter than on the 68. Learned something new.

My Original 1966 Fastback

In 1973 I bought an original 1966 Fastback 2+2 with a 289 HI-PO 4 speed posi track (BTW, was this a rare car since it was not a Shelby). I was 15 at the time. I sold it 4 years later. I regret that move up until two weeks ago.

I bought a 1967 Fastback. IMHO, the best looking Mustang ever built! She is not all that I want her to be, so, it is going to be restomod.

I know everybody has there opinion about original vs restomod, but I want to be able to step on the brakes and not go.. OOOOOHHH *****. The quarter turn of slop in the steering etc. Etc. Etc. ....

I know I am going to be putting thousands in this project. But when I get finished, I'll bet I can get every dollar back out. My corvette has lost $20K in value over the last 4 years.

All in all, I think it is worth what you want to put in it. Eleanor made her worldwide famous, increased her prices, but has insured the long life for many almost dead ponies.

It might not hit the road again. With all of that being wrong, the peron buying it may or may not have an idea of what they are getting themselves into. Either way i think we all agree that person is going to need some deep pockets.

It would be "interesting" to invite the purchaser to join this forum to see the progress or lack of.

Didn't read the rest yet after I saw this post, so excuse me if I'm repeating someone, but I just had to respond. The 'purchaser' will likely be Carroll Shelby and Unique Performance, and the seller very well may get his 5000$. They buy rusted out fastbacks all over the place, and rebuild them from the ground up. If they have useful parts, most of them go up for sale on Ebay via Unique Performance's ebay seller (take a look at their website, they have a link to their ebay sales...some good deals there http://www.uniqueperformance.com/). They then sell them for 100k+. There are good and bad points to this. Good is that it increases the value for those of us that already own Mustangs. Bad is that for the ones that don't, and are looking to get into the hobby, it's like a brick wall. Just ask the Camaro guys. Try to find ANY 67-69 Camaro for under 5-10k. Regardless of condition.
