computer reset

I know its a stupid question but do I have to reset the computer on my 03 after an oil change so that it runs better. like the computer know when it needs an oil change and you have to reset it or something
any help please

Does not hurt to reset it every now and then. Also, since you have a K&N clean the MAF when you change the oil. I always reset PCM after I clean MAF.

last dumb question I don't have the owners manual so I don't know how to reset the pcm

Just disconnect the battery for about ten minutes. Disconnect the negative lead.

You need the owner's manual because it tells you how to effectively make the car re-learn its fuel trim tables.

You can download an owner's manual from Ford.com but you will need to type in your VIN to get it.

why are you reseting the PCM after a oil change? that wiull not make it run better all it will do is make the pcm loose it's learned values. so now it will have to relearn to get the idle right and the mixture right.

I had posted a similar thread and thought I might find the answer here.

I have a new bottom end w/ stock heads and CAI, TB/plenum, headers, catted x, and CB. I was wondering how to reset the PCM to learn this new setup and if it was even neccesary. Right now it runs great but needs the timing adavanced which I'm waiting to resolve until I get an XCal 2. I too do not have a manual so looks like I'll be going to Ford.com.

Also....its throwing all kinds of codes that I know are invalid such as O2 sensor codes when all 4 are brand new and installed personally. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated....sorry bout jacking this thread :SNSign:
