I want some Drag Racing, but lowering springs...

I currently have Eibach's Sportline Lowering Springs (or they might be Pro-Kit, since i got them 2nd hand and i forget what they are now...but i think they are sportlines) installed on my ride, and while the look of the car is amazing, the ride has been very bumpy ever since the install a year ago. And i think its getting worse now, becasue my REAR struts/shocks are still stock, and i think are going bad now due to the lowered car. (as ou can see in my sig i have aftermarket front struts).

And i know my sportline springs will be bad at the track for weight transfer, and will hinder my performance more than help it... :nonono:

So i want to get some great drag racing springs...but still have the lowered look of the car. I think my sportlines lower the car 2" or 2.3" which fills the wheel well nicely, but i want something that rides more smooth and performs great at the track.

Can someone point me in the right direction for what im looking for...there are SOO many different types of springs out there and i can't decide which would be good to lower the car about an 1" - 1.5" but still be good for drag racing...

I realize nothing will be better than NON-lowering springs and all out drag springs...but i want the lowered look a little too. I want the best of both worlds....currently my set-up isn't good for racing and is just good for looks (or a road-course, which i dont do much lol)

I'm thinking about some Ford C-Springs form "Mustang Tuning" for like $150. What do you think?

people have said that the c springs are a great all around spring like the steedas just cheaper, i just install the c springs yesterday and i think you would be happy with the drop, seems lower than what i thought it would be...may go back and remove rear isolators if doesnt even out a lil bit more.

The ride on them is great...i honestly think if anything it is better than crap stock springs. No huge jolts on a bump or anything yet.

As far as at the track i am not much help but people have said they are good for weight transfer because of the progressive rate in the rear.

hope this helps some

Wait confused...if they wer lower than what you thought it would be...then why would you go back and remove the rear isolators...wouldn't that drop them MORE?

got pics?

its all about spring rates. Ive heard the H&R Sports offer decent weight transfer, but still not as good as stock obviously.

Well what spring rates off better drag strip performance? Like most springs say 700-760ft/lb in the front and 300 in the rear....does that mean that a spring with the rate of 600lbs in the front and 200lb in the rear is softer and therefore better for the drag strip??

Because Mustang tuning offers some "SPRANG Zs" springs which are the above specs (600/200)...while the H&Rs are 700-760 in the front with 275-300 in the rear.

Where the hell can i get those? and can you give me the lowering and spring rate specs of them??

If they are all out drag springs, i dont want that. I want to lower it at least an inch too...

theyre stock springs from Fox body mustangs. fronts come from the 4cyl LX model, rears come from the fox GT model. Check a junk yard or look online

Well obviously i know they are stock springs on those cars hes talking about. But i dont want 70,000 mile+ springs on my 02 GT. I want them to be new.

oh, reading your post led me to believe that you thought they were a brand of springs. My bad. I bet you could buy them as a replacement part (new) just look around. Lots of people are running them so they have to be coming from somewhere...

fox 4 cyc springs will drop you 1 to 1.5 inches in the front and the ride will be slightly lighter.....now for the rear you can use your stock gt springs and cut 1.5 length of coil out and it will drop your rear 1.5 in and still feel better than lowering springs on the street! But when you nail the throttle watch your front end lift up!
If you pick up a set of old fox springs from the Junk yard just clean them up a bit and spray paint them! They will look like new and only cost ya about 15 to 30 bones!

i will try to put more up later

lower than i thought in the front, but i want it to be even in front and rear, i dont want raked look, so i will remove the rear isolators and leave the front.

i am working on getting the pic right now will post in a few mins.

If you want a more even stance, front to back, you can also cut the dead coil off of the rear springs and it will even it out. I think that you will still have the raked look if you remove just the isolators, but give the isolators a shot first.

Pics look good, though.

Ok so i found a kid at my tech school that wants to lower his car. I told him i'd give him my eibachs (i got them free and installed them myself keep in mind) if he buys me some Ford C-springs. He likes the idea because he wants the eibachs, which are $250 and the C-springs are only $150.

Now, i just measured my car compared to his car. He has a 2001 GT (stock springs) and i have a 2002 GT (eibach pro-kit). The measurements from the ground (center of the tire) to the top of the wheel well (center) were like this:

His 2001 GT: 28 1/4" (front) 29" (rear)

My 2002 GT: 27" (front) 27 3/4" (rear)

So as you can see my car is lowered a complete 1 1/4" over his car. I really thought my eibachs would have lowered me more...like up to 2". And he has 18" wheels and i have 17s and i measured the daimeter of the wheels...thinking that might have been a difference, but both were 25" in diameter. So we have the same cars just hte springs are different.

My questions are:
- How much do Ford C-springs lower the car? (I'm hoping i wont need an alingment again if the drop is the same)
- Assuming the C-springs drop the car as much as my eibachs, is the springrate THAT much worse for drag racing on the eibachs? Is it worth me switching? I can't picture my eibachs being that bad for the drag strip if they only lowerd my car 1.25"....

What do you all think?? If the C-springs are plain BETTER for the drag strip, and lower the car the same...i'll take em! I need some input

Ive got fox 4 cyl springs cut 1/2 coil in the front w/ sportline rears right now. Ride height is 25.5" in the front and 27" in the rear(measured from ground to fender). Gets good weight transfer and the front end lifts nicely on launch. Im fixing to install 90/10s in the front to help even more.
