255/50/17 tires question

I'm planning on going with 255/50/17 tires all the way around so as to keep the same tire diameter as stock. Has anyone put this size tire on their Stang and if so are there any clearance issues up front?

I'm planning on getting the Bridgestone Potenza RE750's. They have the best traction, cornering, braking distance ratings for tires in it's class and price range but I would like to know if anyone has these tires and can give a practical real world critique of them.

Thanks for any help.

I need to know the same thing. Right now I have 245/40/17s on the front and 275/40s on the rear. I am going to go with either 255/50s all the way around or 255s on the front and 275/50s on the rear. Right now I dont have any problems and the 255s are only 10mm wider so I wouldnt think it would be a problem but my wheels are 04 offset so they are sticking out about 1/2 more then 05 wheels.

No clearance issues with the stock GT rims. http://mustanglife.tenmagazines.com/mygallery.asp?id=4568

255/50R17's fill out the wheel wells nicely.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html has a tire size generator and it looks like they would be the same diameter. lucky fit I guess?

i put the 255/50 g force ta's on the rear but left the stock on the front i also got another bullit and put one of the ones i took off its now my fullsized spare the 255 wouldnt fit but the gt take off does fit. just fit!

you were able to put a stock takeoff in the spare tire well? does it stick up too much? what about the "tools" that ford gives you, do they fit under there also?

yea i have my pirelli with the bullit its taller by about 3/4 of an inch but i dont care when ever i use to put stiff in the trunk before it use to smash down the carpet kit and i just set the tools next to the wheel. the 16 stock wheel fits great but since i upgraded to the 17s i wanted whem to match.

I just put on 255/50/17s on mine. replaced the 275/40s on the rear and 245/45s on the front and what an improvement. they dont rub, they dont track bad anymore and are alot quieter. My issue is that my front tires are 8s and the rears are 9s. thinking of buying 9s for all the way around. Going with 05 offset 9s in the front and 04 offset for the rears so that the rears will be wider then the fronts.
